What is the general concensus on "typical" oil consumption on the 6.5?

My 6.5 (with 195K mile) uses about 1.5 quarts between 3000 mile oil change interval. There are no apparent oil leaks. I guess that I am burning via blow-by and the CDR valve...?

Should I be concerned?

That's not too much to loose. Most of it is probably burned after vaporizing and being picked up by the cdrv to intake connection.

Check your oil cooler lines too - known for problems. FAQ link below has a thread inside for leaky lines.

when i had my tahoe, it used/lost a little oil [from high to low mark over ±7500km] and most of it probably was from the lube oil cooler lines... i was running mobil 1 15w50...

I'm about the same 1qt between oil changes.
