Does any know where I can find a parts breakdown for the latching mechanism for the armrest console of a 2004 silverado. I have to bang on it to get it to open and the latching mechanism doesn't open the latch with the lid open. I would like to take it apart, but I am not sure as to what I will find.

Thanks in Advance

your truck has the fold down center console I take it?

I know the 95 and newer trucks had lots of issues with the fold down console lid being a complete PITA to work properly after some time. Not too sure if there ever was a proper fix or not. I imagine you have tried google?

did you lube the latch…lots of issues with those back when they were new...

yes it is the fold down console/armrest.

lube it? nope. The piece to push in, pushes in, but the latch doesn't move.

At this point, I have it ripped apart and can't for the life of me figure out how it is supposed to work.

I had the same thing with mine, got some lube from gm, supper lube or something like that, really no joke! It works like new and that was 3 years ago. Good luck!

Lots of them have so much junk in them the lid won't shut but they jam it shut and then it breaks the plastic lever. Hope that won't happen to you. They are a pain when jacked up when you want it to work. Lubed mine and it works great now too. There is hope.

I put a shot of WD 40 a time or two and it worked just fine, but mine was still fully intact. It was no different empty or full...it never would work until I shot some lube in there.
