Currently own 2002 Duramax Sierra 2500 HD. First set of injectors went out at 100k. Outside of warranty. 7k. Now after 11k miles, independent shop says two injectors are bad and will redo entire system injectors, cp3 pump, etc for 5k. Oh, the warranty on the injectors is one month out and corporate says too bad...

Question: I have a 7k trailer that I pull 4x per year. Should I go with another diesel or get the 2500 HD gas...I do travel out of state quite a bit so gas mileage is a major concern...

Looking for ideas, Diesel or Gas...I'm concerned about his Urea system and have been following posts about excessive smoke etc.

Quite frankly, I'm reluctant to buy another diesel because I bought this truck for longetivity and now have 115k and signigicant engine issues.

If you have the money, but the diesel. There is no reason at all to be concerned by the DEF/Urea. People were worried about the emissions eqpt on the 08-10 LMM but that proved VERY reliable.

Injector issues are common with early Duramaxes. Remember, yours is one of the first of the 6.6 engines, a very early mode. Almost ALL kinks have been worked out the and the 6.6 is stronger and more reliable than ever.

One last point, what extra you spend up front for a diesel you get back at resale time. This is a fact. Very few people want a HD pickup with a gasser (not that they're bad engines in isolation).

The 2011 3500 single rear wheel has a GVWR of 11,500 and the dually 13k...great capability allied to an all new frame, improved Allison with big brakes and an eB to slow down the masses of power. I'm very impressed with the all new 2011 LMLs and may be returning to GM sometime soon.

Thanks for the input. I just found out dealer will cover injectors, so immediately after, I'm selling and buying a new 2011...

Another quick question and I will do a search, but does anyone have any thoughts on tire size, seems they offer 17-20...Have 17 now but was considering 18 on new truck..
