well Im new to the board and a new d-max owner , just got it today. Got rid of a dodge diesel. So here are my questions . What do yall think is the best way to incress fuel mileage ? What brand chips do ya run? What is the largest tires I can put on it after I level it out with keyways? Thanks in advance

Well I'm pretty new myself but I'll take a stab at your ?'s. As far as increase in mileage, a tuner or programmer might help a bit. Some have said exhaust helped, but others reported no gains. It seems once you rack up some miles the mileage increases some also. And if you can be easy with the right foot LOL! that helps too! I know alot of people run the Edge Juice w/ Attitude, there's also Banks, Predetor, Van Aken(sp?) do a search or check the LLY electronic section lots of info. And as far as tires, with the keys I think you can run 33's without rubbing but not possitive. Anyway hope this helps a little and welcome to the board, there's alot of great guys and lots of info so read up.:)

with the dodge I had a few problems front end replaced three times (idler arms control arms all bushings steering stablizer ,bearings) It was the high op with a edge chip. also had trany problems real hard shifting some times it wouldnt upshift had to let off and make it shift.

I'm a newbe also (just read'n at the moment). My cheap and easy setup for a lift is LT285/75R16 - BFG All-Terain's. I cranked the torsion bars a little, in the front, and also added a 2" lift to the rear using GM parts. I'll have to get my part #'s, but it is less than $100.

well, the 285's will go without rubbing, but you would have to tie back the fender well on the driverside as the washer fluid resevoir pushes the front side in a little and the emergency brake cable pushes the back side in a little. they'll rub on thtat side during sharp turns. with 285's your mileage will go down and if you pull heavy loads, the allison may experience some difficulty shifting into 5th.

265's is what the dealer and exetended warrantee companies would allow for highest. the extended warrantee companies will watch it if you bring it in for any problems and try to make any relation to anything on overesized tires. 265's won't hurt your mileage that much.

i'd say, straight pipe the truck, put in a finger stick with egr blocking plate and run a tuner. You can run the predator that way you have a diagnostic tool as well. that's the reason why i went with it, plus reliability.

i did install some guages and a banks sixgun with speedloader in a friends truck. he loves the banks and i can see why. power is great, only thing is he is still in his warranty and the switch is always there. but his egts are still high with the crackhead exhaust he has. too much rubbing if you ask me.

mileage is best if you keep the tach under 2000 rpms. also, the predator will allow you to adjust your top speed limiter, compensate for tire size and adjust the axle ratio, if needed. once you place the tires on, and power up, don't go by your DIC on the mileage. hand calculate it.

good luck with your choice and make it eduucated.
