Hey guys had mine engine light come on today had it put on the computer and it showed a egr sensor error and a abs speed sensor problem but the light went off before getting erased. wondering what your guys input is are these potentail serious problems or no. I am mechanically inclined so what should i do or check into? Thanks!

I would check the wiring connections between the EGR sensor and the computer and for the ABS I would check the sensor mounting and wiring.

I think the EGR codes are related to you having a 5" exhaust. pretty common problem.

and i agree on checking the wires and connectors for the ABS

I had my truck in the shop twice last week for a EGR code P0403. The light came on a couple of weeks ago. I have a buddy thats a mechanic so I asked him to bring home his scan tool. I read the code and reset it. About a week later it came on again. I took it to the dealer last week.

They had it for the day, called me at the end of the day and said they had found a service bulletin so they loaded a new program on something and reset the light. Said they also checked some wireing. Less than 24 hours from leaving the dealer, the light came back on. I called the dealer and then got me right back in to check it out again. They said they checked some wiring, and they thought that the EGR Valve or whatever it is was not working properly. They didnt have one in stock so they were going to order it. There supposed to call me this week when the part comes in and get me in to put the part in.

Ive done some research online and found that its a very common problem and that most of the time the dealers try whatever the bulletin says to try, but that pretty much everybody that I read about said that it didnt work for them either. Turn out for most of them that the EGR valve is not working like it should and needs replaced.

The bulletin that I found online is 06-06-04-066D

Hope this helps in some way.

I had the same problem with mine. Light came on and went off after a day. A friend scanned it and showed a code of PO403. He reset it and a day later it was on again. I got some information from this form and went to the dealer as I have an extended warranty. Someone on the form said it should be covered under the emissions warranty but the idiot service rep said it would not be and if they did anything I would have to pay my $100 deductible. First they tried to reprogram it, didn't work. They they tried to clean the EGR valve, didn't work. They they replaced the valve. Paid the $100 and a week later the dealer called and said they made a mistake and the repair was covered under the emissions warranty and sent me a check for my $100. This form is great.

It's covered under the factory 5yr/50,000 mile emission warranty but after 3 years you pay the $100 deductible. If you have an extended warranty it's up to that warranty.

Got the dreaded P0403 yesterday, second time it's happened. First time, last November they programmed the "cleaning" and "cycling" of the EGR, this time they did the same thing and told me the valve will be replaced if it happens a third time. My 2007 has 39,800 miles and there was no charge for either visit (no extended warranty).

You posted in the LBZ heading. If you really have an LBZ and not an LMM you don't have a DPF.
