just found out that my front locker isnt working. the power supply wire feeding the relay blew the 10amp fuse. put another 10 in there and it did it again. put a 25 in there and it worked but i pulled it back in the shop and checked it again and it blew that. put a 20 in there and just backed it out of the shop and parked it and it didnt blow. its only blowing when i try to engage it. i know it was working when i spun my rear drive shaft a little over a week ago. everything looks okay from what i can see. just wondering if anyone else has had this problem too:mad: or at least steer me in the right direction. going to try and get ahold of there tech dept. monday, if there is one.

The obvious is a short to ground. Putting in a fuse with a higher rating than the system is designed for can cause your wires to go up in smoke. Time to get a multi-meter out and find the source. Wire damage, smashed or bare wires would be the place to start.

:agreed: As Reineke said, you've got a grounded wire. Hopefully it's not inside the diff. At this point, take it to an automotive electrical shop. They'll understand the process for finding and repairing it. It's just basic electricity. Just don't be trying to use it till it's fixed.

its not like i can use it now, need to fix it. nothing i cant figure out myself, i was just wondering if anyone had the same trouble. i am hoping thats its a external wire problem, and not that magnet thing inside. all the wire is in a wiring loom too. it dont blow right after i push the button to engage it. it seems to go after its been engaged.

alright heres the deal, without a load on it, she locks up fine. as soon as something binds up, pop goes the fuse. i figure its insideCensored :( . sent an email to eaton for tech help, anyone else know who to get ahold of. everything looks good that i can feel and see from the outside

I believe they are just an electro-magnetic clutch inside the diff to pull the lock into position. If it is ok until you apply a load, there is probably an internal wire that touches the case or gear when you apply a torque load to the axle. You are probably need to pull the diff cover to take a look inside. It might be in plain sight with the cover off.

thats what i was figuring, i will have to drop it as soon as i get some time. dont know when that will be though. what are the chances the electro-magnet is bad? i hope its just a wire though
