Hello. Like it says. I am sure a few have done this. Anyone have any info? Was it worthwhile?

Thanx.

talk to tierod. he ran the raylar 106 cam with 1.8 rockers. if i remember correctly i think he said it did alright. BUT he also had the raylar heads

I have 1.8's on my current truck. Made no difference.

Thanx guys. I think I have asked Tierod about longer rocker arms on an after market cam in the past. I am curious if anyone ever put this on a dead stock cammed motor. I have read a couple of threads on raylar cam installs and I must say for a cam I would only go with Comp cams (Unless I win the lottery and can buy Raylar heads & intake & everything).

Thanx for piping in guys.

agreed, do not put a raylar cam in with stock heads. you need his heads to run his cam or you will have problems.

stock cam is .475/475 with a 1.7 rocker, so a 1.8 rocker would make it about .500/.500
I cant remember the stock duration but it's pretty wimpy. You'd be better off doing a comp 270XR and just leave the heads stock. Upgrade to one-piece chromoly pushrods while you have it apart. Or go big and get raylar heads and cam and a paxton blower.

I would not go over .510 lift on stock heads. at .540 lift I had broken parts. The valve stems are just not very long.

Thanx guys. I got this off of a thread somewhere on here, the stock cam specs are:
Duration: 201 intake 208 exhaust at .050
Lift: .470 intake .470 exhaust
LSA: 119 LSA

I am still curious if anyone has put them on a stock cammed 8.1, and then how it performed.

I am sure 20052500HD8100 is right on, it is just a half ass way of camming up. It was an interesting thread with the man (YukonXL496ci) who put the smallest of the Compcams in his Yukon. He was not impressed with power gains above 3000. But, with his Superchips Cortex (don't know anything about a Superchips Cortex) he did before & after 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Here are his results:

Edelbrock TES headers installed and Performance 91 octane file installed
0-60 8.57 sec
1/4 mile 16.39 sec
(not much gain here with the headers as others have agreed but they are on clearance in the Edelbrock online store for $200, ceramic coated, so get'em while they last!!)

Comp Cams XR258HR, Edelbrock TES headers, and Performance 91 octane file
0-60 7.53 sec
1/4 mile 15.92 sec

With just headers, and only a hand-held tune, those are not bad improvements.
