I have been don’t my own fuel filters as long as ive owned the truck. My question is about the bleeder screw. I just screw the filter on and start pumping the primer. I have never used the bleeder screw. Ive never experienced any issues and didn’t even think about it until my buddy was giving me a hand installing it and asked if I was going to crack the bleeder screw.

So my questions:
1. Am I hurting anything by not using the bleeder screw
2. Whats the point of having the bleeder screw if it can be primed with ought using it?

I have never used that screw in 10 years of the dmax...no damage by not using it, saves issues with them leaking...

The screw allows the air to escape to then allow more fuel to be primed until finally the air is gone and replaced with fuel.
