Ok. I apologize for my ignorance first off. I just purchased a 2006 GMC 2500. It has the LLY motor. On the DIC there is a setting for Performance Heater and you can turn it on or off. I have looked through the owner's manual and can not find what this does. Can someone help me out? Thanks!

Do you mean elevated idle?

I kinda figured it was something in that respect, but haven't been able to find anything about the exact wording in the owner's manual.

when the temp drops below 32* give or take a few it will raise the idle so the truck and trans warm up faster.

When cycling through the DIC, you should see elevated idle, toggle it on.
When its cold enough outside it will kick on. Be advised it does use quite a bit of fuel, but sounds nice:D
Also if its cold enough you can put the winter front grille cover on and it will help the truck warm up while driving.
Other than that try to park in the garage.

If I recall, the high idle will kick in at 36-37 degrees F.

Thanks for the replies! After doing some further reading in the owners manual I did locate the answer. What is labeled as "Heater Performance" on the DIC is the high idle control. I appreciate the help!

Maybe that's a difference between the LLY and the LBZ. I really don't know!

Maybe it is for the PTO option.
My lly reads the same as my lbz - both say elevated idle.

Now I have no idea! The only difference I can see Roy67SS between your LLY and mine is that I have a 2006. A PTO option?
