I have ordered my RCD 6" lift for my truck and I have scheduled the installation for 8/8. What I am unsure of is if I want the dual front shock kit for it. I love the looks, but has anybody went from a sigle to a dual and noticed a difference in the ride? Thanks for any input or pics, since the guys is gonna have my truck for 4 days, I might as well have him do it all at once if I might like the ride of the duals in the long run.

Thanks in advance,

With the weight of diesel go with duals.

Unless you're going to replace the stock upper a-arm stick with the single shock, the stock upper a-arms and pressed in ball joints were never designed to handle the extra load of the shock attached to them. Even on kits that replace the upper a-arm, I still wouldn't run duals, the double a-arm design was never intended to run shocks to the upper arms. Just look at all the off-road reacing vehicles with the dual A-arm set-up....do you ever see any of them runnng shocks to the upper arms????? You'd be better off spending you're money on a single Bilstein 7100 for each corner. Or you could get crazy and do something like this:

A good single shock to the lower A-arm will always work better, last longer, and provide less wear on the ball joints than any number of shocks to the upper arms. Just my $.02

Are you sure you can get the double shock hoop kit for the 05. I was told by RCD this kit is not available yet. The frame on the 04 to 05 is a little different. I was told this by RCD. Let me know maybe you know something different.

I was told by the RCD that they have a special set of Bilstein adjusted & tuned shocks that are specifiaclly setup for that lift & dual hoop kit. They even went further and said that you could not get those shocks without buying their dual hoop kit.

They definately have a set of softer valved shocks made for the set-up but the upper a-arm and ball joint are still the stock ones. The RCD kit comes with a bracket that bolts to you're upper a-arm over the top of the ball joint. Even with the "special" tuned shocks you'd still be better off with a Good single shock. It's all for looks with the dual shock set-ups and again, the upper arms and ball joints were never designed to carry these loads. Just look at the difference in size from the lower arm to the upper, ones stamped the other is cast solid. If you're set on the dual set-up at least get a replacement upper a-arm with bolt in Moog ball joints and don't offroad it very hard. Cognito and CST both make a nice replacement upper a-arm with the HD ball joints.

Alright, i know its like 2 in the morning but i just finished installing the cst 11" lift and i drove it around with a smile on my face even though it was with the stock tires and wheels. I can tell a slight difference with the front end ride, of course its a little more stiff but i doesnt bother me one bit because it still rides good, i'd say to go with the dual shock hoop cause you might regret it later:ro)

Gibby, so are you saying the hoop is available for the 05. If so who are you buying this through.

I just purchased the Cognito hoop and upper arm with 4 Kings w/Res and steel braided hoses. ($2700 at Outlaw Offroad with installation). I've had my RCD kit for about 40K with really no problems, just not high enough anymore. I'll be switching over to the Cognito 7-9 kit in a couple of months. If you haven't seen the RCD Dual kit in person do yourself a favor and have a good look at it before you get it.
