This is just a heads up for any one in the new england area. I was just riding around town this Sunday morning looking at trucks while the dealers were closed for something to do.The GM dealer in Brattleboro VT has 2 Dmax 6 speeds on the lot. One is a 3500 dump and the other is a 2500HD reg cab. Both base models. I would be very tempted by the 2500HD if I hadn't just got my 5.4 6 speed Ford in November. I don't know if its common to see the 6 speeds in dealer stock in other parts of the country, but around here it is very uncommon and I was surprised to see one and shocked to see 2. I assume most of you 6 speeders had to order yours?

They aren't very common on lots. Most of the time you have to order them. The local dealer here in NE has 2 used 6spd,ex-cab,2500hd,4x4's.

I agree..That's something you don't see anymore..I had to order my last two trucks because I wanted a manual trans...Apparently the dealerships don't think they can sell a new manual trans truck....
Personally, I like doing my own shifting...:)

I'm with you partsguy...I enjoy rowing through the gears. It gives you something to do when you are in traffic!!!

I got lucky and found mine on the lot. The week before I had just ordered a 2002 with just about the same specs. Smoky Mountain Chevrolet in Franklin, NC, used to stock quite a few hand shakers. A few weeks ago I went to their lot and they only had one 6 speed flat bed.

They are easy to find around here (Central KY). The dealership where I have always bought trucks had 6 ZF-6s on the lot when I bought my LLY C&C last year. I think you see them a lot more in farming communities. Last time I checked, there were 4 on the lot. This particular dealer sells lots of cab & chassis trucks, though.

When i got my 03 gasser, i had my dealer in AL search for a 5 speed. found it somewhere in KY. I liked it but... i wanted the DMax too much

what is the price difference between the ZF6 and the Allison duramax?

It varies. Most 6spds are cheaper due to the very small demand.

I have had to order my last two but if you look hard enough and are willing to sacrifice some features, the six speed trucks are out there.

$2200 bucks for Allison option. Now with they have a power package that you order the dmax and the allison at the same time and save around a $1000.

As for ZF trucks on lots. In a non cab and chassis setup they are like finding chickens teeth around here. The 03 I had the dealer moves alot of trucks and had only sold 3 dmax/ZF combos.

When I bought the goat I now have could not find a new 2500HD dmax/6 speed within 750 mile radius.:( So I now have a Cummins

I just went through the dealers lot again tonight and the 2500HD 6 speed seems to be gone. Unless its just hidden out back or something. I'll bet someone grabbed it quick as they are so rare around here.
