Ok, I tried to replace my rear rotors on a 2002 dually. I read all the threads, removed the axles, removing the lock ring, key, and unscrewing the main hub nut. I got all of that off without a problem, but the brake/hub assembly would only move about a 1/4" I tried everything I could think of, and it wouldnt come off. I tried prying it forward, even smacked the rotor from the rear hard, still no movement. After an hour, i put it all back together and replaced the front suspension instead.
Anyone have any ideas on why it wouldnt come off?

You may have to back off on the parking brake adjustment.

Yea the caliper bracket was off. The bolts came out real easy once I heated it up with the torch.
THe parking brake was a thought of mine. How do you back it off?

There should be a rubber plug in the middle of the backing plate, underneath the axle tube. I believe, the star wheel turns up to adjust them up so you would have to rotate it down or towards the inside of the of the truck to back it off.
You probably have a rust ring that the parking brake shoes are catching on.

The rotors just needed some "light" prying to come off. Once they were off i could see the adjuster. Makes sense now.
Too bad the parking brake is out of adjustment now, gotta get it back in the air and adjust them. :(

yeah that old seal will make them seem stuck sometimes, but a good yank and they come off.
