I am having some SERIOUS problems with ATS. Has anyone else had the same issues that I have had. Keep in mind this happened with an 2006 2WD 48re no mods NOT AN ALLISON OR OTHER GM TRANSMISSION.

Trans 1. TC went out metal in pan(chunks)
Trans 2. Valve body replacement and washers in the tail shaft metal in pan
Trans 3. Loose shifting and lots of metal chunks in the pan
Trans 4. Metal in pan, lots of out of pocket shop visits and TC went out
Trans 5. Recieved trans 5 with bad sensors installed had to replace them as well as the sensor in the tail shaft and then broke a 2 piece pressed billet input shaft.(non modded truck)...

Is this all normal for ATS???

Is it normal to call ATS and never get a response back???

Is it normal to get stuck with the bill at a shop they tell you to visit and tell you they will pay for it?

They have a great warranty but is that because they build a sub par trans and they know you will use the warranty?

I am putting my full story together along with the pictures of the metal in my pan and the different stuff that I had to deal with while being involved with ATS. I will need to go through at least 20 or 30 emails to see how many of them were unanswered as well as my phone call logs. I spent 6000 bucks to put an ATS tranny in my truck and as you can see from above it did not work out so great. I am not trying to bash anyone I am simply telling all of you to the best of my ability what I have been through in the last 32 months. I put over 130000 miles on my stock trans...How come I never got more than 25000 out of an ATS? Is this normal??? Please let me know what you all think. Let me know if it were you, what you folks would be doing in my shoes. I tried speaking with Clint Cannon the owner of ATS, but he soon started ignoring my emails. I have tried everything in my power to work out my situation with ATS but have'nt anywhere else to go. I had to eventually go to another builder whom I will keep under my hat so as to not think I am "plugging them" for this post..This was done because I submitted a phone call broke down on the side of the road and did not recieve one ounce of help in what I should do(they were ignoring my issue) for 4 days only after they were aware I was having another builder fix it... Any input would be great of any of the forum members dealings with ATS that have turned out this way. I hope I am in this boat alone but I am sure I got some company..

THANKS COLT

I have a 58RFE?? in my 06 Liberty diesel and was told by one of the best Allison builders in USA to be very selective for who works on a Chrysler tranny from these new trucks etc. They must be super delicate on how they go together and are calibrated etc. Mine has worked great so far 70k mi. just had it serviced and filters changed so we'll see. I can't say I've heard of too many stock Dodge crap out with normal driving and service they do give trouble with race track escapades etc. but they all do after idiots test them to find the limits of stock stuff.

I have heard of similar experiences on the Dodge forums for the past couple of years, off and on, when I had my Dodge. That is one company I will never do business with.

Colt (aka out6grand),

As stated before, on another forum, we offered to help you. I'll post Clint's response here as well for you and others to read yet again......

I'll also reiterate that Clint's offer still stands - return your defective ATS transmission to us and we'll send you a new one; you can then do whatever you wish - perhaps sell it to recover some of your money? You made the decision to move forward with a different transmission and be "out6grand" - ATS has always been here to help, and always will be here for all of our customers.

Here's Clint's original response, copied from another forum:

Colt (AKA performancedriveninc),

It is upsetting for me to see you leashing out against ATS on the forums. Regardless, we are sorry to hear that you experienced so many problems with your truck. After reviewing the inspection reports for your failed transmissions, there is a distinct pattern of failure issues that all lead back to one persistent problem; lack of rear planet lubrication. There are notes in our inspection reports which state clearly that two of the transmissions suffered severe lubrication failure to the rear planet and center support. Restricted lubrication through the cooler will absolutely cause gear-train failure and ultimately transmission failure. All of the "metal chunks" here, and "metal in pan" there are direct results of the lack of lubrication problem that your truck/transmission is having. If you don't fix the lubrication issue (clogged cooler, cooler lines), then you will never have a transmission live in that truck – ever. The problem is most likely due to the original transmission failing and filling the cooler and cooler lines with debris. Sometimes the cooler can be flushed to clear most of the debris – if the contamination is bad enough, you have to replace the cooler and lines. It appears that you need to do the latter – replacement of the cooler and lines seems to be a great starting point to get any transmission to live in that truck.

It's unfortunate, as it looks as though this is turning into a witch-hunt of sorts, so I will do my best to stick to the facts. Over the last 2 years I got personally involved with this situation considering you had repeated transmission failures. During that time I worked with you personally to resolve your problems. Every time you experienced problems we spoke and or e-mailed and I responded to your every request. Obviously you being in Florida and ATS being in Colorado presented a bit of a challenge but we managed to get you fixed up every time. This last time you called in you told me that the transmission had stopped moving and you were wanting to have it looked at locally. I advised you to get it looked at and you agreed to do so. I offered to send out a replacement transmission but you were in the middle of having the unit from your truck repaired instead. Later, you told me that the input shaft in the transmission was broken, and "that was that". At that point there was not a lot that ATS could do to remedy the situation, since you didn't accept our help. I again offered to replace the transmission; the offer still stands if you care to take me up on it.

I called Ron at SunCoast to get more info regarding the transmission failure considering you broke down very close to his shop. He told me after the fact that the input shaft "just broke?" He could give no real reason as to why other than "it just broke". It's been our experience that billet input shafts don't have issues with "just breaking". We would like to get more information about the issue, but it's probing to be more difficult than it should be since "it just broke" doesn't give anybody any type of solid information.

Again, I am sorry that you had multiple issues with your transmission. After personally having dealt with you over the years, it upsets me that this situation ended up this way. Again, the offer still stands; I will be more than happy to replace the transmission, or replace the broken input shaft.

As far as the BBB goes, ATS has no special treatment. We are just like everyone else that is an accredited business. If anyone wants to file a complaint then all that is required is a computer. We at ATS must work hard at customer service to maintain our A+ rating, and to answer your question Colt, what you describe in your post is not normal.

As for our warranty, you of all people should know that we stand behind it. How else is a person to get multiple transmissions from us, under warranty? We've replaced the transmission, under warranty, 3 times and are offering a 4th (the other problems were with the governor solenoid and transducer, which are new in our transmissions, direct from Dodge). You are correct about one thing, however. When you say " the last thing I wanted to do was put another tranny in my truck that i knew was going to fail", that's the last thing we want for you as well. That's why we want to find out what the root cause of the failures are. I believe that the transmissions acted as a filter for the cooler problems – when you put a new transmission in the truck, the new transmission fluid flushed out the cooler and lines, but the debris couldn't pass through the transmission, instead destroying it. After numerous failures for the same problem, the cooler finally did work free the vast majority of the debris it held, and allowed adequate cooler flow to not have the transmission fail for lack of cooler flow. The cooler seemed to be a logical step since it's the only common part in all of the failures, and it's a very logical path to take, but we'er beyond that now. Since the last most recent replacement, your transmission had been acting like it should until the input shaft "just broke".

I would like to be able to have a working relationship with you. It is not looking to me like that is going to happen in this situation, but that decision is completely in your hands. Please let me know what I can do to help you with the current situation.

Ive had numerous ATS transmissions and Aurora turbo systems in all my trucks to this date and would recomend there products and service to anyone I know. Of coarse when they build five trans for one there competitors build they are going to have an occasional upset customer but belive me there is many more satisfied customers then upset ones.

I think based on what Joel Richards posted above, there are more sides to this story. Why come on here and bash ATS when it appears that Clint is trying to work with you and get your situation fixed.

Might want to make sure in the future that you post ALL the info. ;)

I'm not "out6grand" with my new transmission...It is the first transmission I have ever received for my truck that acts like a "built" Transmission. No hiccups and no sloshy feeling no sounding like a dang jumbo jet inside the cab of my truck while driving up a little hill, no tailshaft leaking, no 2nd gear starting no downshifting out of lock up on freaking cruise control for no reason and then jumping back and forth gears. Hey! guess what...All the sensors work too.. I am so used to getting new transmissions and and the seolenoids not working...Boy was that a breath of fresh air. So- the answer you seek is that I am not out 6 grand over my "new" transmission I have been out 6 grand since I started messing with ATS. I am very impressed with my new transmission thank you very much... Now-onto the part about "send me back your broke ATS trans and i'll send you another one" It is easy for Clint to make that statement because he knows I have a Suncoast built transmission with an ATS vin on the side of it. It is really easy to offer somebody some help when you know that they can't do what you ask... It's kind of like seeing your buddys new shop and then saying..."boy why did'nt you ask me to come help you put that new shop up" I'm done with this, I knew there was no way for me to even come close to getting anything out of this other than a fancy 1 page letter from somebody trying to cover there butt and offer what they know they won't have to give up...Clint, Thanks for nothing

Sorry about your luck. Perhaps you'd be better off discussing this on a dodge forum, not trolling a GM forum about your problems.
