Lots of opinions on additives, I will always run them as long as I have a diesel, I like the lube factor. Having said that I will only use a lube that has been proven to work and not just some random product, the additive study proved a lot there.

Which additive did you decide to use?

Yes same filter on LML as previous models. Just did my first oil change on our LML at 600 miles. The filter is the same as our 07 LBZ used and the same part number. But on the LML it is further forward up over the crossmember a little. Or if it is in the same place that our LBZ was, it seems futher forward due to the new frame on the LML. I took a piece of cardboard and slid it under the filter so it would drain with out running all over the cross member/frame on our 2011. I didn't have to do that on our LBZ, it just drained straight down on the 07 and cleared everything.. The new truck filter location is still easy to get to and put a wrench on but you just can't let it drain into a bucket like the older models did without running onto the frame members. The cardboard worked fine to prevent a mess. As for aditives, I'm not so sure with the regen system, we didn't have any of that on our LBZ but I'm guessing whatever was safe to use on the LMM should be safe on the LML. John Kennedy would be the guy to ask.

I don't think your truck would even know it's there. We had 50 miles on our's and hooked up to our 40' 14,500 lb gooseneck and drove 450 miles thru the mountains of PA,West VA and MD. Hammer down. we did this with our 02 brand new and had no problems. I always do my first oil change under a 1,000 miles and the rear by 1,000 or 2,000 miles and also Trans filter.
