I am going to install backup lights on my 2002 2500HD 6.0 gasser. I have searched and read posts for 3 days on this forum and the Avalanche forum getting info. Very hard to keep track due to different model years and install methods, however I think I have it and just would like someone who has done this - or is knowledgable in this area - to confirm my plan of attack.

I want to use the Aux Lamps switch to power the lights manually, when I want to use them. I do not plan to have them come on when truck is in reverse - only when I push the button.

Here is my plan....

Parts Needed
GM #15040484 – 4-switch Pod
GM #15734687 – Blanks for switch pod (5 pk)
GM #15722980 – Aux Lamps switch (Left)
GM #15305931 – Harness for Aux Lamps switch (6 leads)
GM #12193922 - Connector for Position C9 on the MBEC
GM #12129424 - Terminals for MBEC connectors (x3)
30A Relay
Backup Lights

Aux Lamps pinout

Aux Lamps Switch…………………………..MBEC………other
A - Not Use
B – Ground………………………………………………….C9
C - Power In {any 12v source}…………………………………..tap into switched power under dash from ???????
D - LED Dimming Signal……………………………..C9
E - I/P Dimming Supply Bus……………………….C9
F - Power Out {to lights or replay}…………………………….30a Relay
(note – can wire D and E together and run to Fog/Cargo switch – E if need to)

I have modified a diagram I found to fit my setup - I think it represents what I need / want - PLEASE let me know if it does not.

Also, I have heard/read the C9 MBEC connector and terminals are hard to come by - anyone have any ideas where I could get these?

For some reason I can't edit my above post.

I want the Aux switch to backlight and dim the way it should. I also want it to be powered by a switched or "keyed" source so it will only work with the key ON - this would prevent the lights being left on by accident when I leave the truck.

Any ideas where to get switched power under the dash for this?

Well, I got my Aux Lamps switch installed last night. The LED stays lit up all the time - is it supposed to be this way? I know some of you have done this mod, how does yours behave?
