I have to ask a dumb question - I have tried everything and no matter what i do the grease seems for come out the fitting instead of going into the zerk - is there something I need to do before I try to grease the zerk? - I have bought a good 90 degree tip and clean the fitting before i try to grease it. But i still have the grease not going into zerk:confused:

Some of the chinese zerks are off size a bit. Usually you can adjust the grease gun tip to fit tight.

Some of them are tricky. I try and get the grease gun head as straight in line with the fitting as possible and push hard on the fitting to keep the leaking down. Hope that helps.

Try sticking a pick on the ball of the zerk. And also like others said.
Good luck!!

Good idea, I didn't think about the ball being stuck.

These re-usable Zerk caps from AVLube work great .. they keep fittings clean and free of dirt.

RFDEV - This is new to me. I am trying to figure how does it work? Is it so small and will snap OEM zerk? Please explain little more detail how it works. Thanks

They are just rubber caps that snap on the Zerk.. just pop off the cap, apply grease with a gun and replace the cap .. Ive been using them for about ten years now.. before that I used recycled caps from microwave SMA connectors (http://www.globalspec.com/ImageRepository/ProductAreaImages/2007/5/3623/small.jpg)..

That is my standard situation with zerks. Which is 100 times worse when I try to get those illogically placed zerks on top of the steering linkage.

If the grease gun fitting is not lined up straight with the zerk and snapped on and held in place and straight the fitting will most likely not take grease. Sometimes it is hard to get everything in the right position.

I hate greasing the truck. It is so ridiculous unless you have a lift and can almost stand under it. Try getting under a 2wd half ton. Its even worse.
