Has anyone had any problems with there steering pumps on the 05 Duramax. Sometimes when I start mine I can be barely rolling and turning the wheel and it sounds like it is whining. I have checked the fluid and it is full. I could be wrong it could be something else but it does sound just like the pump.

A lot of us have the problem, and the stealer, will come back with "it's normal" How do we provr it's NOT normal?

Tell them to take you out in one of their trucks from the lot and duplicate it for you in that truck. I get tired of dealing with people/dealers with that kind of attitude.

Mine was making noise when teh wheel was turned. SOunded as if it was low of fluid which it was not. At 21st they replaced the pump and I had teh same issue. After about 12 trips to teh dealer I finally took them for a ride in a parking lot.

I would do a circle while saying "grind grind grind". Then go straight while saying "no grnd". FInally go the booster (on the firewall) replaced and no more issues.

Any more info on a fix for this problem anybody?

I busted the pump shaft on my '01 backing my 5er into a campsite in Arizona.
The Dealer in Flagstaff treated me pretty good though, he sent out a tow truck and had a new pump in in less than an hour...pretty good service.

I have been to the dealer several times about this. It would get stiff to turn when hot and I would get a vibration in the foot pedal. The dealership replaced everything in the system including the pump twice. I no longer get the stiff turning but I still get a low whirr.
They wrecked my truck so I am trying to get a new one.
Good thing is they did not tell me it is normal but they said they have not heard this problem happing before until I came in.
