All,
When driving over small bumps and potholes, my brake pedal rattles. If I hold my foot under the pedal and lift up, it's silent. If a put light pressure (or hard pressure) on the pedal, it's silent. There is at least an inch of play up and down on the brake pedal at rest and this allows it to flop fore and aft when hitting small bumps.
Is there a fix for this? I searched and found others with this issue but no resolution.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ed

you can get the plastic bushings that are in the pedal pivot from the dealer and this will fix the problem. i have done many of them with higher miles. the bushings are cheap.

Hey, while you're in there working on the brake pedal, clean and lube the post on the pedal where the Hydroboost and brake light switch connect. It will cure any squeaking from there if you had any, and greatly improves break pedal feel. At least it did for me. All the white grease that was applied from the factory was dried up, and clumpy.

It's probably not the pedal pivot, but rather where the pushrod enters the booster. The pushrod snaps in with a plastic circlip. The clips fail over time.
This pic is from a slightly different application

The clip is installed on the left side of the center rod.
You need to check to see if the rod is firmly secured into the booster. It should have less than 1/16" movement.
Here is a cross section of a vacuum booster, but it has the same pedal pushrod attachment.

It's visible 2/3 of the way in one the pushrod, starting from the right side of the picture.
I was able to buy just the clip for a couple of the trucks here from dealer.

Could you email me those pictures, they are too small to make out any detail.
Thanks,

First pic is post #8 here http://www.airforums.com/forums/f159/hydro-boost-needs-rebuild-15035.html
Ignore the second pic as it is a different style retainer.
