I spun one of my main bearings and was told i should not regrind mine because it further weakens an already weak crank. So, i was advised to try to find a good used one to replace my paper weight. Any ideas about where to start loooking?

I can tell you O'Riellys sells the re-manufactered crank for $ 300. But the warranty states ' Warranty vaid until installed'. I don't think that is much of a warranty, so I have not bought one from them. Autozone has the same warranty. I have parted out spare motors to get my supply of some hard to find parts.

Yea, I have a crank but it needs to be cut. Here is the thing. When u get a crank cut, it is about 150-200 to get all the mains and rods cut, which is recommended. Then, u need bearings, 40 rods, 50 for mains or around that price. So there is 250-300. Go to the auto parts stores around you like Napa and they should have reman ground crank at .010 main, .010 rod for 300-350 with the bearings. I have seen one on ebay for 300 but then u have to pay shipping. But check it out, especialy the auto parts stores, that is your best bet. The cranks I have all need to be cut.

my local parts shop gave me a price of 1150$ for a new 6.5 crank. That seems excessive, am I out of line thinking that?

Yea, the auto parts store gave a "New" price. Get what they call a reman crank, one that has been turned down .010 main .010 rod. This will also come with the bearings.
