: My Maintenance Schedule

So, as is my normal tradition when I buy a new truck I establish my maintenance schedule and perform all prior services up to the current mileage. Who knows what the previous owners did or did not do before I bought it.

I'm still determining what fluids I'm going to use, so obviously some of these numbers might change.

Some are a little short compared to the schedule sticky, but I plan on doing some towing eventually with the DRW, and the other has a little more strain on some components due to the lift.

Pretty much posting this up to see if anybody has any suggestions or to see if there are any errors in my sheet that I didn't catch.

Wes,

Everything looks pretty good. I would do a Hydro Boost P/S flush in there with the brake fluid. I would also make it a point to check the front hubs every 50k as they only last about 60-80k. You have a great schedule there if you decide to go synthetic I will help you adjust the your intervals to to match your goals.

Brake fluid change/flush is a bit off. Brake fluid should be flushed/changed at a minimun every two years, or sooner if towing, or in a wet climate

My maintenance log - a little more generic but based on the GM Maintenance I/II format. It is an Excel 2002 format

I actually like the set up, looks almost like it came from a shop. Might do that for the wife's just for further information in case of a future sale. Sadly, mine is under warranty (aftermarket) and I have yet to figure out if I'll have to take it to a dealer for mine.

My format was just for personal records, might have to use both. One for quick reference (mine), maybe make into a sticker for each truck for inside glove compartment or something.

Mine was in an excel type format, I use OpenOffice though so figured a .pdf would be better than risking formatting issues converting to Excel.

I know I'm reviving an older topic, but I don't see the point in making a new thread for related questions.

Anyway, I just want opinions on the fluids and filters I'm thinking about running. I want these trucks to last at least 300k. Haha.

That is way too much for a fuel filter and most Napa do not have the metal type any longer they are all the newer plastic style now. Not sure how much the deep pan and filter are costing but we won't be beat by any other vendor on those items if your looking to buy them.

Just checked and they still have the metal one.

The pan and filters are from madjack... just gotta get the money for 'em.

They are one of the few that still have a meatl one. Still at 47.89 that is 12.00 too much when you can get the same thing in a Racor Coalescer filter for 12.00 cheaper from MadJack Racing. :D

So does anyone have any actual opinions?

If I want another pushy salesman I'll go buy another truck...

Hello,
I would make two adjustments to your plan:
1. Change out the Tranny fluid to Transyd. Then you could go on 25K for the exterior filters (down from 30K) and every other filter, you could change the fluid out of the Trany pan. Increasing the fluid to 50K.

2. If you plan on using Mobil 1 5W40, you are dumping oil that is still practically new. I know that 5K changes are very easy to remember, but unless you live in an extreme cold climate (like me in interior AK) you could either extend to 10K and feel comfortable, or drop down to any one of the big three dino oils (Rotella, Mobil & Valvoline).

I'm still debating the tranny. The fleetrite is more affordable, but everyone recommends something else.

I completely forgot to update the sheet. Thanks for pointing that out though, I'll fix it once I get home. It will be 10k. When I made it I was planning on using rotella.

Agree that the pricing is high for the metal filters and a previous design.

I found the best pricing for the racor PFf50216 at Bline Supply. Madjack Racing posted that he would match that price.

Best Baldwin prices found at WestFleet Supply but you must call them over the phone.

No links as they are not supporting vendors.

I like to support vendors but cash is hard to come by these days so I look at the "landed" cost of all purchases. I compare landed cost to over the counter Taxed prices, too for local purchases. Bottom line and ease of achieving that bottom line factor in.
