Just bought an 03. If you fill it up with fuel, the fuel gauge goes to full then will go down to empty and the light comes on, sometimes during driving it will come back up to full but then go back to empty. The dealership I bought it from ordered a new ground wire for it and said they thought that was the issue, but that hasnt come in yet. Just looking for some other ideas/opinions.
Thanks.

elaborate more about the stepper motor. Where's that at? What's it control? I've heard issues with the cluster before..never looked into it much.

I could say, "The search is your friend", because there are many threads about it,
or
I could say its a little electronic "motor" that runs each individual gauge. On the 03-05 trucks, the originals were not reliable and start to burn out, with the symptoms being exactly what you describe. If you know how to solder electronics, you can buy 7 new updated motors off Ebay and replace them all in your cluster...or you can send your cluster into one of the guys on Ebay who fix them. I believe there is a DIY thread in that section on replacement. Its not too difficult.
