How much should it cost to install the Transgo Jr kit in my 2007 alli?
Could I do this as a back yard mechanic? I am comfortable changing fluids, brakes, exhausts but I have never worked on the inside of a tranny.
Thanks

If you can follow directions and have an inch/pound torque wrench should be no problem at all.

Actually the title should read "cost if I don't install the T-go Jr. lol."
I'm sure one of the trannguru's will pm you with a price. Good investment!

There is a good write up on DIY-- and yes, you could do it if you keep everything clean and organized. Be sure you torque the valve body and use a little grease to hold the springs and balls in the trim valves (that holds it together while you assemble the parts).
A good mechanic can do it in 2 hours or less. so labor will probably around $200.

does the whole valve body need removed so the holes can be drilled in the plate right? then just install the two springs and check balls on the trim valves. Or are the 6 speeds that much diff then the 5 speed allys when it comes to the vavle body part of the trans go jr.

I believe its the same process Chris. Very easy to do if you take your time.

Follow this and you can do it yourself... I did mine when I had my truck, only took a few hours.

I paid 250 for labor, spin on & sump filters and fluid. I thought it was reasonable.

If you do it yourself, don't forget a "surgical" clean environment is a must.

I paid 175 but that was with both filters (spin on and internal) and I already had the fluid

I paid 330 Canadian for install + internal and spin on filter and fluid. I felt happy with that price

My kit should arrive this week. I need to decide on a deepsump pan PPE vs. Mag-Hytec as soon as I decide I'll be on my back doing my kit.

Can any tranny shop do the work? Any recommendations for a mechanic in central nc?
