Ran for 4 hours on the dyno last night. PPE Hot Eliminator put out 442RWHP on the Mustang. Talked with PPE Dan for half the time we were on. Holding 23055 on actual and desired rail----both the same!!!! They claim we will need more fuel and to send it back to them. Everyone involved is a bit miffed that we aren't getting bigger numbers. We are setting a MAF sensor code--no dash light. The reading on the error for the MAF is showing a reading of 470.8---I forget what the units measured on that are. The Dyno tech claims that MAF reading is maxed out and wonders if we need to get around that some how. We put PPE's boost valve in the wastegate---but still show only 30lbs of boost. When we do a long pull from 40MPH to 75MPH with a 15 second run--as was suggested from PPE-- we can get a turbo overboost code on the low end because of the large amount of fuel before it cleans up. We put a Powerstroke resistor on the boost sensor. That took care of the overboost code on that long run. I checked the posts for ideas and solutions---bad MAF sensor---go with a big head---bad ECM---?? PPE Dan has been most helpful and I think we will get it figured out---but you guys have a lot of ideas--------so

PS If I am posting incorrectly or anything let me know----learning!!!!

Traction is also an issue on most Mustang dyno's.

What was your baseline #? Was this a 4th gear locked run, or 5th?

Could be different dyno different day type stuff. I dynoed high 490's with my Xtreme and then the next weekend dynoed 450 ish, then the weekend after that I had a boost leak from hell, dynoed 460 on another dyno(the truck felt different driving then and smoked like a biotch).

All the codes are strange though.....

We we're in 4th lockup. I'm sorry but we didn't get a "stock" baseline. While we are doing the run we are also watching the wastegate lever and it is moving and wasting during the mid-point of the run. Will the stock wastegate have enough pressure to hold or do we have to go with something else?? Also is there a manifold absolute pressure sensor on these motors??? Thanks guys!!!

Try cleaning the MAF sensor, especially if you have an oil-style air cleaner.

Kennedy, What's the magic to keeping traction on the Mustang---you must have run on a Mustang dyno before???

PS - Dyno numbers "in a vacuum" are pointless.

If you do not do some stock pulls, comparison pulls, or verify the readings at the track, you will never know how much a modification actually gains or loses.

I will clean that MAF off right now. I don't set the code when I horse it on the highway, but the dyno load will set it every time.

Understood on the "vacuum"---I should have checked my base, since I have Trans, intake, exhaust, FASS system upgrades.

Either crank down the straps, or put weight in the bed. Spining of the tires should be fairly evident.

Are you reading 30 pre or post IC? I swing 31ish pre IC. You can do some tricks to get a wee bit more boost outa the stock WG. Its fine for the most part IMO.

We're running boost tap after the IC. The tires do seem to get pretty sticky. I'm running bridgestone Revos in a 265. They are kind of a soft compound tire. We are strapping down and back. OK---what does IMO stand for---I figured out most of the rest of the jargon!!!

Most Dynos cannot measure over 450 rear wheel HP without getting the tires sticky, then slipping the sticky/greasy tires on the rollers.... I would add weight to the bed and becarefull not to tighten the rear straps too much if it is a dual roller dyno, as it will remove even more weight off the front dyno roller, which is the power absorber/ measurement device.....Before you run it again with weight in the bed, clean off the sticky grease on the tires out in the street....
Hope this helps....

the last time i saw a PPE hot run it did about that on the local mustang load cell. FWIW i've never had a hard time getting my truck to hook up on the mustang whether i run 10, 15, or even 30 second pulls locked in 4th gear. we've actually dynoed several trucks over 600 and one or two over 700 on the same mustang. this one also has the older style rollers which are supposed to not bite as well as the new ones, but we still haven't had any problems. its pretty simple to tell if your tires are slipping on the dyno. but like others have said, run a baseline for sure and see where that puts you. its entirely possible you may only get in the 450's. with the way your truck is setup right now. another pound or two of boost might help, but just remember the higher you run it the higher the chance of it going boom.. and i've blown up a duramax turbo on the dyno before:rolleyes:

so far what i seen with mustangs, is that they are very repeatable, been on four with almost the same baselines, different locations, for your setup that might be all she has for hp, i find that best test to get maximium boost was in fth gear starting around the 73mph and going up to 106mph, gave the biggest load, least chance of dyno tire slipage, 4th gear for me was not enought load to acheive full boost, as for hp most stacks will get you into the low 500 hp, as strong single tunes will be in the 460 to 485 range
