Well had a day to kill and got everything together this week and started early this morning. And luckily my father in law is Mcguyver and loves working on cars..............so we have a lift at work(in a cabinet manufacturing plant).

So anyway.............lifted the truck and pulled the fender liners. I did a little more work to clear the 295's , this time a little cutting and more beating so no more rub at all.

Next up was some Super Diesel tie rod sleeves. I had put these on my LLY for like $150. Now on e-bay Super Diesel is selling what's called the original or old style sleeves for $40 shipped.............had to do that.

Then I tackled the big one............the redneck delete. I had my stock exhaust from my LLY laying around so I gutted the doc/cat and today we fabricated a DPF pipe out of the LLY muffler pipe. I had a friend at a machine shop make me a flange on a barter deal............so I have zero cost in the delete system..........which is a good thing right now.

I had to have some tuning and went around the world but since I had a few set backs...........figured no tune for now. I did end up getting a stock tuned ECM with delete options , tire calibration, and top speed removed for a reasonable amount.

Fired'er up and no codes or problems. Went for a spin and dang...........was up on the higher end of what I expected power wise. Not like a chip but still pulls a good bit stronger. I am very happy with the power . I was suprised by a couple of things..............truck seems no louder on the inside which is a plus in my book...........just can't believe a gutted cat and no dpf made no noticable change. On the outside it may be a little deeper sounding but sounds pretty stock really. And I also can't believe how much it smokes...........I figure no smoke but dang it smokes like my LLY with the Predator on 65 or something.

Anyway...........long day..........glad I did it so far !! Can't wait to check the milage and start watching my oil life which has been sporatic on this truck !

i used a stock exhaust off of an older truck that matched mine. bolted right up. didnt have to cut or mod anything. all factory hangers are still there too.

Sounds like a nice shortcut and reasonable price. Otherwise I'd think it could be upwards of $1k for a solution than easily converts back for emissions testing (spare engine controller, tune, pipe). Seems like it could be a lot of work to do before each emissions test. After 5 yrs AZ requires annual tests.

Using those parts saved money so why not. Smart way to do it and the ECM setup is excellent choice too. The way around the checks is easy if you take time to do your setup and make it permanent or a changeover either way. I have to agree with the guys wanting mpg and going thru the hoops for smog crap.
