Hello everybody,

on my way to find a Duramax here in germany, yersterday

I drove for first time a 2001 Silverado D'max LT with Allison.

It was wonderful...:D

But now my question:

what exactly is the "Tow/Haul"- mode while you are driving ?

I know it's for towing....but what's happen exactly, if I drive in this modus ?

Thanks from Germany

Oliver

Tow haul locks the converter sooner 2nd gear changes the shift patterns and gives you grade breaking.

The tow/haul mode simply changes the engine rpm's before the transmission shifts. When your towing or hauling a heavy load, the
engine rev's up to a higher speed before the transmission shifts up
to the next gear. This avoids lugging, and increases the acceleration
of the truck when under heavy load.
So if it normally shifts at say 2200 RPM's, in tow haul mode, it would
shift at say 2500 rpm's.
This does increase fuel usage, lower miles per gallon. But it gives you
more control of the truck. When it comes down to it, I simply push the
pedal to the floor until I hit highway speeds, then back off, and I get
the same effect, without pushing the button.
Going down hill, I will use this button, cuz it does help slow the truck down.
