Yea, you can do it. I am looking at doing the same thing. This guy did it and it looks good. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37632
Hope that helps.

After the mods I listed in my original post referenced above, there is no rubbing at all. They fit perfect and look killer. If you need any different pictures please let me know and I will take what you need.

Tex now that you have run these tires for a while what kind of MPG are you seeing. I have a set of H2's and trying to decide what size tires to go with. Leaning towards the 285/70/17's but I don't want to kill my milage, or do any cutting.

I cant say that I have seen much of a change. Maybe 1-2 MPG swing in BOTH directions. On highway the taller tires are supposed to give you better mileage and in city they are supposed to do worse. I guess for me it has evened out. I am pretty anal about calculating my mileage and have done so since day one with this truck. I personally wouldnt think there would be much difference in 285s to 295.

I have the 33x12.50x17's on mine and only turned the t-bar 6 turns. If you go more than this eventually you will have issues with ball joints, pitman/idler and premature shock wear. The handling gets a little squirrely with the t-bars maxed out. When you hauling a load it looks like your truck is making a load!! Alot of this I have learned from experiance and when you do turn your t-bars make sure you get it alligned! Personally I think anything smaller limits you off-roading as the sidewall is very short and you could easily pinch your sidewall or damage your rims on the rocks. But if you aren't into the occasional rock bashing the 295 are good and a little cheaper too. Plus you have more brands to choose from with the 295's 33x17's are tough to find. Mileage changes are nominal, .5 or less with my 33's! Good luck, oh and never believe the stealer when comes to mods!
