I have been looking into a mbrp t-409ss exhaust system, and i know that they cool your egt's down(which is great), but i was wondering if any of you notice any difference in how fast the turbo spools after you do an 4in exhaust .
thanks

You might see a bit quicker spool up but nothing you can quantify. I think the turbo sound gives you the impression that it is spooling up a lot faster. I might be wrong but like I said its almost imposible to quantify it.

As Max said it might be a bit quicker, but nothing to call home about. Now, if you get the optional front-pipe with it, you will notice quicker spool-up not to mention a deeper tone.

I would like to see some real dyno results. I know it cools your egt's, but how much power does it make. I see all the adds saying 18-25hp. I was reading a article in a magazine on a new 6.0 ford. they put a intake on it to lower egts. They dynoed it and gained 1.5hp. They then put a full turbo back exhaust on to lower egts and dynoed it and got 5 or 6hp. So from full intake and exhaust together they got like 7hp. Then they put a chip in it and gained around 100hp. The chip power is to be expected. I know you need to install intake and exhaust to lower egts. If I am only planning on running a 40-60hp tune to get a little better gas mileage and power (I don't want to be hard on tranny and want the truck to last a long time) I don't think I really need a exhaust.

I would not buy an exhaust hoping for better performance. It's primary function is to lower EGT's and add coolness factor.

Intake and exhaust improves the efficiency of your engine. More air in, more air out, equals a much more efficient running engine, its that simple. Will you get a huge seat of the pants gain? NO. Will your engine run a lot cooler? Absolutely.

So if only running 40-60hp on a chip I don't really need exhaust. I only have a afe stage 2 intake. I bought it because I got a good deal on a used one.
I guess I will buy a edge with attitude next. Then I will buy the exhaust for the sound and looks with lower egt's.
What would effect gas mileage more. exhaust or chip?

I got my MBRP from DSTRBD yesterday. I love it! Perfect mellow sound and call me crazy, but it seems as if power comes on stronger. I have the Diablo Predator with the 85 hp tune. Great combo for my leased truck!
