My dad recently died and I am the executor for his estate. I am trying to get rid of his vehicles. One of them is a 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup and I have never had an interest in pickups and don't know anything about them. It is an extended cab, silver color, 2500HD, diesel motor, 4X4, leather and loaded with all the options you can get I guess (he bought all his vehicles like that). It has 20,000 miles and has no modifications other than the side windows have been tinted. He drove it on a few trips and used it to tow a 16ft cargo trailer a few times but mostly it sat in his garage. It looks like a brand new truck and still has the new car smell inside. No accidents or anything like that.

I took it to a chevy dealer and they looked it over real close and offered me $20,000 on the spot. They said it was a really nice truck but that was the most they could go because it was four years old. Of course I knew they are offering wholesale price. Kelly Blue Book said retail value is $34,100 which seems kind of high for a four year old truck. I looked at listings on the internet and the prices were a lot less than Kelly Blue Book, but then again the pickups had more miles and some were modified. So I am kind of confused and thought I would ask you guys who are the experts.

So what do you guys think a fair price would be for this truck? Thanks for any assistance!

You sould be able to get at least 28k for it. It has really low miles. I am looking at a 07 cc/lb 2500 with 65k for 30k fully loaded. Prices on these trucks has went way to high.

Sorry about your Dad.

I would pay you the $20,000.00 for it myself but then the guilt would get to me. Don't take it to those thieves and let them have it for that price. They are going to mark it up and make a LOT of money on it.

I would sell it outright and you can advertise on Craigs List and E-Bay and here and anywhere else. DON'T let people tell you a 4 year old truck isn't worth more than 20K.

Good luck and don't forget to check N.A.D.A. for another reference point on the value of the truck.

For what its worth I would say in the 26-28 range. Having extended cab vs. crew cab hurts it a little. Good luck.
