But if you keep it for 30 more years and don't drive it, it may become a classic and worth a lot of money. -ha :)

Another strategy is to sink soooo much money into it in upgrades you have to keep it.

:exactly: I'm going to have my LB7 for a couple more years.

 Maybe the LB7's will turn out to be better motors, in which case, we'd be ahead.

would be nice if the discounts are still there on the 6 speeds

I plan on driving mine for a long time. That's why I bought a diesel. They would have to pratically give them away before I'm trading. Of course I may have to reconsider if the price of diesel keeps getting higherCensored

diesel prices would have to get purty danged high to make a switch like that. i'm a long term owner too.... it's just fun to look and think about it.

Very true.......don't forget about the variance between diesel and regular gas. For me it's around 20 cents/gal. When it gets around a buck? Well I don't know my 454 gasser never pulled like this truck:ro)

Well.....when the 'employee pricing' ends, and it will......shouldn't that reflect with an increase in the value of the used truck market? If starting the employee discount made the used value go down, it is only common sense that ending the E.D. will make the used value go back up.):h

I think they really messed up because now everybody that wanted a new vehicle has it, who are they going to sell to when it ends? my uncle can get the discount all the time hopefully i can use it and get me an 06:muahaha:

Makes me glad I'm not in the used car business. :) But they are always going to find some way to try to move the vehicles. The last few years the low interest rates was a big seller. Thought everyone who wanted to by a new car would have one. So now they had to up the ante. But I hope my truck is around for a long, long, time.:grd:

The employee incentive is only for 6 months. You'll be ok.....besides don't we keep our diesels for 5 or so years anyway. That's why I bought a diesel; long term driving.

This is one of the reasons why I did not go with the Dodge, besides the lack of room. I was told the resale was bad on them due to how easy it was to get employee pricing.(green sheet)

The auto industry is F'd in my 2c. GM is in big trouble, and this is just a quick fix to a long term problem.

don't trade your vehicles in to a dealership! :) Yeah not $hit, but most of us cant and dont have the time to sell to a private party and be with out a vehicle till you get a new one.

There's no loss until you sell, just like with stocks that have dropped! We'll have this one at least another 6 years, and maybe longer, so it doesn't much matter to me. I keep my gas motor vehicles till almost 200,000 miles, don't know why I would trade a diesel earlier than that. I love the idea of the 6 spd allison, and more HP, but don't really need either and I can buy the HP with a tuner for real cheap. Now if they fixed the injectors so they would last 200,000 miles or more consistently, I might be more interested in trading. Don't see that happening though, and the rest of the truck works great for me now, I'll be keeping it for a long time.

I don't think this statement is universal. I actually traded my gasser 6.0 for my D/A and got more for the trade than I paid for it brand new. I also got the D/A below book since it was an ad special also.

In my example, my dealer wanted to move the diesel with vinyl interior bad enough to take a gasser 6.0 w/ a 5 spd on trade -- on my terms.

Typically I agree with the statement you make, however. More times than not, you lose $ with a trade-in. I figure the loss is their compensation for the instant gratification, no down time, and less hassle. For some, its worth it.

Agree ~ I'm thinking lower injector life is the way of this technology ~ but perhaps someday they might mature out to last as long as the old mechanical injectors but thats gotta be way over the horizon.

I just kbb.com'ed mine, trade in @ $26500. SLT, crew, LB, 35k etc. Since I bought mine @ 0.00% financing that's actually more than I owe on it! However I'm keeping this thing till it dies, hope to get 10 years out of it.

I really dont care what the used cost as I will drive it till the day it dies. The last truck I parted with was my 86 GMC mason dump purchaced new in 1987 for $14,500 totaled for $8,500 in 2003. $5000. dollar loss in 16+ years not bad. :)
