I was driving by the stealership and I saw a couple new trucks comming of the trailer. I stopped by after work to take a look, and a short test drive. The trucks I looked at have all been ordered and paid for. I am now really thinking about getting an '06. You can select a gear from the 6 speed allison, shift up and down yourself ect. And the stealer wasnt sure if it had 310HP or 360HP I didnt get to really open her up, but I could tell it has a little more lowend power. What do you all think about the 2006? Should I just hold out until the 2007??
Thanks all

Don't give in at 2007, hold out till the 2009's. You've waited this long, what's a few more years for the ultimate, super duper, whiz bang truck - it's just around the corner:)
Trucks are like computers next year will always bring a better, faster, model.

If it had 360HP, it would feel like an LB7 with a 50HP tuner in it. You'd know it right away.

It must of only had about 320HP(ish) then, becuase the 2006 didnt act like it had the same power as my truck on level 2.

What are the highest milages you have currently heard about the Duramax??

Unless you drove it long enough to get her good and warm (No I'm not talking about your wife;) ) you won't notice all the power. I know with mine even with the 135 hp Quad, it runs much better once it`s warmed up good.

Did you raise the hood to check it out? If so, you could have checked the sticker that shows the engine number and hp rating.

The dealer let you drive a truck that another person had already paid for? If it were me .... and someone else drove MY new truck as soon as it rolled off of the delivery truck, I would be pissed.

I think the trick is you don't own it until the paperwork is all done, so it isn't YOURS yet. It could still fall thru, maybe you back out. If it was already actually yours you would have to have it insured before they could even carry it I would think.

I say that because me and the ex-wife were buying a tahoe in 1996, put down $500 and ordered it, truck was delivered but we decided to split and not get it. We lost the deposit but didn't own anything.

We bought the 1st 89 thunderbird that hit wenatchee. I told the sales manager nobody drives the car before we do. He was dissapointed because the salesmen all wanted to drive the car. Chevman

It was paid for and all that good stuff, but the catch was the dealer was buying it for his brother, so he let me take it for a spin.
Did you know what GMC calls an employee discount isnt what an employee pays??Here a 2005 duramax costs $44,000(new) and $33,000 with the discount and an employee can get it for $29,000(ish)...what a rip!

Run a little cost analysis. How much to trade for the 06 and estimate what the trade value will be in 09. You may not be out of pocket more than a grand or two to trade now and again in 09 and you'll be in warranty all the way. Just a thought.
