Ok . . . have been talking about it for months now and time to make it happen . . . have my egr blocker plate in hand and my dsp5 switch and ready to buy my efi license . . . question is . . . if you were me, would you just use a buddies tunes that are on a truck identical to mine or pay someone to write tunes for your truck . . . . I have 2 friends with lly's that have paid for tunes and I don't see why they wouldn't work for me . . . I would be willing to reimburse them for their tunes vs paying someone premium prices to tune mine . . .. not trying to short change the guys putting their time in trying to tune our trucks to the best of their ability . . . but I am also a business minded person and can't see where the need is to have to have each truck tuned specifically when others are posting tunes on the net . . . . please share your thoughts as I have heard many different thoughts on this . . . .

I don't want to preach but it is not right to take someone else's work for your own use without their permission. Maybe the tune's author would give you some kind of discount.

People have been copying using and distributing tunes for some time now. If you want specific tuning then you will have to pay for it. If you find something out there that works for your truck and you have access to it, then I say go for it.

YEah its not anymore then buying say and edge or a bully dog chip then it is to have Nick (duramaxtuner.com) custom tune your pcm, and in my opinion the tunes are ay better and can be made to exactly what you want it to do. But yeah copying someones customs tunes is not right and I tried a few tunes off the tune librarie and the only one that ran damn good was one from a guy that calls himself BOBO....that thing ran good. but it want a DSP5 just a single tune..

What about the guy who spent literally months of time to create that tune?
Not trying to be all high and mighty but just imagine the time you'd have to put in to EFI to tune your truck.
These guys did that AND decided to share their knowledge.
Yes for a fee, but there are a ton of guys in other circles who would keep this knowledge for themselves.
It's like having your own GM Operating System Specialist willing to write custom but safe tunes at different power levels for a few hundred bucks.
Really!?
I didn't know they did side jobs
Where do I sign?!!

I knew this post would open a can of worms and that wasn't my intention . . . I am not into stealing others work either, otherwise I would have already done that . . . but i did get a price for tuning and thought it was a bit steep and kinda frustrated me . . . I am not against paying for tuning, but do think that it should be somewhat reasonable . . . the price quote I got was very high (not just a couple hundred) . . . . guess maybe i need to look around . . . and do some more homework . . . .

duramaxtuner has custom tuned ecms with the switch for 499$ if you have the stock trans an turbo and for 549$ with a built trans and stock turbo. his tunes are pretty sweet Ive been running them since march and love them.

I went with tunes from Nick @ duramaxtuner.com and for the price i paid for a dsp5, custom tunes and the v2 I wonder why I ever spent money on any other programmer. I can tune 2 ecms and 2 tcms. Price was great and tuning and service were even better!

I'd just spend a few extra dollars on one of the guys to custom tune it to you needs. Not every truck is exactly the same

First off...I don't have a tuner or any copied tunes. Just wondering how many people have copied someones music CD or DVD movies without thinking twice?

Same here. I have his tuning library, not total custom tunes but I trust them. When I get my MPI twins...I'll be needing some good custom tuning.
