I replaced the clutch in her scion TC last night with and Exedy OE replacement clutch and had the flywheel resurfaced. I bled the slave cylinder a few times and tried to adjust the pedal height but it seems to grab very very low and the pedal feels way softer than stock was.

any ideas.....i really really need to get this car on the road and ready to go tonight!

FYI it engages and disengages perfectly and does not slip or chatter at all, its just the pedal is very soft and the engagement is like less than an inch off the ground... please help haha!

Maybe the pressure plate isn't as strong as the stock one, causing the softer pedal feel. Did you install a new slave cylinder as well.

Bleed it some more. The few I have done in Rangers take a long time to bleed.

Remember that any new clutch is going to engage lower in the travel due the thickness of the new friction plate. Some of the softer feel will be due simply to new components and the long dead space in the travel.

I had an unresolvable difference in pedal travel in one vehicle that led to use putting a sleeve on the push rod at the slave cylinder in order to make the push rod longer to correct the travel. Maybe pull the slave off and make sure that the push rod is correctly in the detent in the arm.

Make certain that the throwout bearing is installed correctly in the arm, that the push pod is correctly in the detent and that it fully disengages. If all of the above check out, drive it and learn the new travel.

My truck did the same here is how I fixed it: pump the clutch vigorously for 30 seconds then let it sit for 30 minutes. Sounds odd but it worked great for me.

How did you bleed it?

thanks for all the response guys....i will re bleed and try and adjust the behind the pedal for the engagement height. How would i confirm that the throwout bearing is working correctly? I am sure it is, but might as well confirm.

moved to other vehicles, and cleaned of derailing posts.
