Okay guys I need some help here. Today I had my truck in the shop getting the CD player replaced because the power and tune knob lights were burnt out.
So when I go pick up the truck I look at see that the visual display for my digital temp control, and the fan button both have scratches on there. Now I know they weren't there before and I'm assuming that the scratches happened when the tech was plugging the harness into the back of the CD player.
Its not like my truck is a worktruck and I absolutely baby it.

I can't decide if I should talk to the shop foreman or not about this, or if I should just live with it. I don't want to come across as being whiney....

Opinions??

On my wifes car they had to replace the steering wheel. While doing so they left some screwdriver marks in the plastic shroud surrounding the column. They were small, but the marks did not look good. I showed the service manager and he immediately ordered a new surround. No questions asked. I would show the service manager and let him make the call. We get enough scratches and dings in a parking lot or where ever, no reason we should get more dings (even to the inside) when someone is suppose to be fixing something.

So simply put, yes whine away :D

I would, if they won't take care of it that will show you the kind of service you can expect of them in the future. But I'm an a$$hole when it comes to people *****ing up my stuff.

Had the same thing happen about three weeks after i got my truck. Getting a cd player and EQ installed the guy at the local sound shop scratched the hell out of my AC controls. When I mentioned it to him he just said some armor all would hide it and not to worry about it. Needless to say, they bought a new AC control on there dime and I won't be going back.

We paid a lot of money for these rides and don't need everybody else tearing them up. Whine on brother, get it changed.

What everyone said....take it back and have them replace the scratched parts. I had a service manager clean my truck himself once because his tech left grease on the door panel and steering wheel after a service. I don't go back to that dealer anymore.

Let me ask you this...did the dealer feel bad about taking your money for your perfect truck when you bought it?? I think not....You have every right to have your truck exactly how it came from the factory...don't settle for less

Okay here's the update. I went in and talked to the shop foreman, told him my story. He says, "let's go out and have a look". Get out to the truck, show him the gashes in the display plastic, and I say " I don't want to be a nag, but I think its wrong that my truck isn't in the same condition as when I dropped it off." I continue to tell him that eventhough the scratches aren't a huge deal, and I wasn't going to call them on it, the more I think about it the more it bothers me.

His reply to me was "yup your absolutely correct Ryan, those scratches would bother me too, let me take your VIN number and order in the new part, I'll call you when they are in. If you don't hear from me by mid next week give me a call because they should be in soon, and it just means that I've been too busy to call you."

I really can't complain about this dealership at all! They treat me like a king.... and IMO that's how it should be.. :)

Glad to hear they are treating you LIKE THEY SHOULD. :ro) It is a shame that so many business have lost their dedication to customer service and pride in their work and reputation.

If you go in and explain calmly to them why you're upset, the better chance you have of getting the result you want.

Good for you! Maxno2 is right...that's proper Customer Service!

I always say that I don't care if someone makes a mistake.....as long as it gets fixed correctly. You did exactly the right thing.
