SES light was on and truck had no power (although I could go above 2000 RPM, it just took a while)...OnStar guy said something about fuel rail pressure/emmissions controls. I wish he could have told me the exact PXXXX code number but I didnt think of asking. Well 50 key cycles and 2 days later light went out...Truck went into dealer for some other things and I asked them to scan for past DTC's. The Diesel technitian at the dealer said it was a turbo overboost DTC. This makes perfect sense because I have the earliest LLY version of the Edge, 1.0. I understand that the early Edge LLY chips cranked the boost way up. I would see 30 PSI in only Level 3!!! I belive the version 1.2 Juice returns boost to stock levels (~22 PSI).
First question: Does it still make the same amount of power, etc...(with the modified lower boost levels)?
Second question: The diesel tech asked if I was sure that I was using an LLY version of the Edge, not the LB7 version. I didnt even know an LB7 Edge would work with an LLY! He was a really nice guy, wasnt mad or anything about the Edge. He said he had installed some on peoples trucks "on the side". He just said to be careful with it because if the variable vanes on the turbo stick or something on the engine breaks, GM can tell if we have been using the trucks......over stock power levels):h . He said that the Edge if used on Level 5 a lot can do long term damage to the injectors because it INCREASES THE FUEL RAIL PRESSURE. I told him that I always thought that it ONLY modified the pulse-width timing of the injectors, and he kinda chuckled and said "well it basically just changes a little bit of everything".
Does the Edge really modify the rail pressure? I thought only the old-school "Duramaximizer" boxes did that. Am I wrong?
