How long do you warm up your diesel engine in the morning? Let's say the temp is 75 .
Thanks

I don't, just get in and go... Some say a few minutes and then go.. Depends on driver and use of truck ultimately.. Good luck and welcome

Hum, this is very interesting. I always thought, you should let the engine warm up for few minutes to get it lubricated well before putting any load on it, even simply drive it off the drive way.

I will start it, and at a minimum make sure the glow plugs ect are off(not the pig tail looking wait to start light). You can tell the glow plugs and heater are done when the voltage gauge pops up to the normal level. Then I turn on the air and try to be easy on her till she is up to temp, then I drive it like I stole it. In the winter I will let it idle for a few minutes if she is cold with the air on. Summer I'm ussually starting to move in 20 seconds or so. If I plug her in in the winter its up to temp for the most part and I will be on my way after maybe a minute. If I'm going to be idleing for much time I will do it with the air on....it will raise the egt's a few degrees. I really need to do the high idle mod

Enough time to put on the seat belt then just take it easy until she gets to op temp.

Start and drive right off even in winter, but I do not push hard for the first few miles.

About 30-45 seconds. Just long enough to get fluids circulating. Then drive easy till temperature starts to come up. Usually don't hammer it until up to normal temperature.

5-6 mins in the summer, 10-15mins in the winter.

I'm with you aprr, I let mine warm as long as I have time for -- at least a couple of minutes, and then the dang thing is still all with the fan whirring and whatnot. It's so dramatic some mornings...

just kidding.... I believe in warmup, in a diesel for sure....

I remote start mine when I'm about to walk out the door. By the time I get in and get ready to go it usually gets about 6-10min in the mornings durring the summer. I'll prob give it more time when it gets cold.

All I do is get in, wait for glow plugs light to turn off and start, then wait about 2mins or so it takes to figure out what I have to do today, work, appointments, ect. Then as Ratlover stated so perfectly "drive it like I stole it!"
