I get very and i mean very small amounts of whit smoke sometimes when warm at idle and when taking off from a long light under firm acceleration. Exhaust smells only of exhaust, no fuel smell, runs great, no cel, no extra oil in case..

Just wanted someone to tell me how much white smoke is a problem..?

Or if i should be worried and start rolling pennies to replace injectors?

i know there are a million threads about injectors but none about this.

Check all the posts on this page that I have replied to, as I have the same issue all within the last month. I have the same issue and the truck is at the dealer now. Just got a call, all is ok. So I will post test results when I pick it up this afternoon.

Just got my 03 back today with new injectors @ 65k miles. At first it was a small amout of smoke @ idle that I tried to ignore but it got worse. Ran great, started good and had no CIL or stored codes but looked like a '57 Ford sitting at a stop light. Went beyond 7 years in Feb but talked GM into paying for parts. Cost me @1500 so it pays to argue with them.

did you have fuel in your crankcase?

I ran mine for 4 years with white smoke. It was smoking pretty bad, then I lost a head gasket. Unrelated I think. I had the injectors tested, and all 8 had bad nozzles. Replaced the nozzles and no more smoke. I believe it is the nozzle seat wearing out, so it will get gradually worse. It will also start getting louder. I was surprised at how quiet mine is now that everything is replaced.

I am going to have them tested this week, it's supposed to be under warranty until November. I hope!

Get checked as soon as possible. My warranty is up at the end of this month and mine were just replaced last week. 4 were bad and all 8 replaced.
Good luck.

Is it just me or is there a rash of this going on all of the sudden?

Not sure if it makes a lick of difference with the white smoke, but I have been running DieselMaxx, its a bio diesel based additive that is SUPPOSED to clean injectors, increase the lubrication of the ULSD, etc. It had all rave reviews, and had increased my mpg by 1-2mpg. Just wasn't sure if the added vegetable oil in the fuel could have caused the sudden appearance of the white smoke??

Is it a general rule of thumb that the only amount of white smoke that is acceptable is NO white smoke??
