Ok well I installed (sorta) the ipod adapter, i pulled everything apart so that I could have the ipod cord in my center console. I got everthing in and working and was putting it all back together. But now I cant get the head unit back in, I tried for 2 hours last night to put it back in. Everything is cramped behind it and the antenna plug is way to short. Anybody have any tips on getting it back in, i know im going to end up scratching the ac cover. I am soo frustrated right now, im driving around without a dash. Any help would be great. thanks

If you remove the HVAC controller (4 screws and 2 plugs) you will have quite a bit more room to work.

I probably should not have but when i was in there for mine I pulled on that antenna cable and got myself an additional 3-4 inches... I could not have gotten it back together otherwise...

For some reason the available length of the wire behind the radio (including the antenna wire) is different for every truck. The trucks I have done the nav swap for have all been different. Sometimes you can get more length by reaching back in to the dash and un-looping the extra wire. Some trucks have no slack at all:mad: .

They must have a bong beside the harness assembly station.

I installed my USA Spec the other day.... Super clean.....

Everything fit in the void behind the radio, along with the USA Spec Adapter Box... then I ran the IPOD wire behind my gauges and popped it out over on the left side because I just bought a mount for the ipod that clips in over on the left, SUPER CLEAN!!! Only about 2-3 Inches of the ipod wire come out of the dash, and thats just so it reaches the IPOD in its new mount. Holds the IPOD perfectly and gives you constant easy access to it without it getting in your way. I'll take some pictures of it as you may want to consider doing the same thing. I love how the USA Spec doesnt get rid of your XM, as I have mine running through the AUX on the cd player. Good Luck!

Is yours the 1 disk XM stock radio? Can you share with us the Ipod cradle model number and pictures would be awesome.

Yes, I have the single disk CD player with XM. Now when you get the instructions for the USA Spec it talks about taking the data wire from the XM and splicing it and running the xm wire they supply you to the adaptor. Well.... I was short on time so I skipped those steps and when I was finished it all worked fine anyways. I still have FM1/FM2/AM/XM1/XM2/CD available, and then when I hit the CD/AUX button again it switches over to the IPOD music, and there is no kind of interference on any of the other stations or the IPOD station.

I hope I attached these pictures right! Sorry for the long loads times, I do not know how to create thumbnails on here!

Here is a shot of the cradle that I got from PROCLIP (www.proclipusa.com (http://www.proclipusa.com)), when you go on their site you will do a search for cradles that match your vehicle, I went ahead with the left side mounted one because it seemed most out of the way as well as the easiest one to access, and I am very pleased with it so far:

Here is the cradle with the IPOD Plugged in:

Here is a shot of just the wire coming out, I wrapped it with a little tape so when I clicked the dash bezel back in it wouldn't cut through the wire:

I don't have any pictures of stuff behind the dash as I didn't have access to my digital camera at the time. If you need pictures of how the wiring goes behind the dash then I could open it up and take some for you.

All in all, it was a very easy installation and I think it turned out very nice, still maintains that stock feel/look since all the components go so well together.

Good luck and let me know if you need anything else.
