Has anyone ever found a way to make this a little quieter or less noticeable. I just changed the oil in my truck and its way worse than it was before hand. I'm not sure if different oil weights or cab insulation or dynamat would make it quieter. Someone somewhere has had to find something.
Some say synthetic oil helps, I haven't found that at the dealer after thousands of oil changes and so forth. They all do it to some degree, all my d-maxes have done it. As for a repair i know of none(non repairable). dynamat may help but its a lot of expense and work. As far as weights there is only on weight that gm recommends that is warranty approved if i call….

I wonder if anyone has ever tried lucas oil additive or anything like that. Mine is just brutally loud all of the sudden after this oil change. Its always done it but its bad now I wonder if theres anything you could use to dampen the vibration and absorb it like a chunk of rubber almost like vibration dampening products for archery only bigger.
the claim its air in the oil and its interaction with the engine brgs if i recall, i cant see how anything like a additive will reduce those air bubbles….it can get loud though. I remember EVERYONE who bought a 01 dmax came in saying their engine was coming apart, and those were loud compared to the 10,11 engines which makes the noise seem even louder.

Yea thats the trouble I know my 02 did it but the truck was louder so you didn't hear it. My lmm is so quiet all you can hear is the metallic tap tap tap tap tap tap and it sounds terrible. Everyone looks at me and says what is that noise lol. I don't know if anything could make it any better I'm gonna try some additives this week.
post back with the results, it would be neat to hear how it went for you.

My son had a 24v Cummins. That thing sounded like two skeletons "procreating" on a tin roof. I can order at a drive through with the LMM, so it seems quiet to me.
Lucas does have the one display that shows how their additive prevents foam. I don't know; I'm not too hip on oil additives whether it ticks or not. Rather tick than knock with a spun rod bearing.
