I had an Audiovox Prestige Informer APS-996A and an Audiovox Carlink CL100 installed yesterday. Now my glow-plug light stays on but it's very dim. Is this a problem or just a little transient voltage that I don't need to worry about.

I also dropped my truck off this morning at the dealer and when I asked them to check it out the service writer said the remote start can and will cause serious damage to the engine and transmission. I don't know enough about remote starting to know if he is smoking dog food or not. Am I going to damage anything? If so I will have it disabled today.

TIA,
-Allen

Sounds like it's feeding back from the remote start circuit. They tie into the glow plug wait to start light.

If the remote start is installed properly it will not cause any problems at all. I have done several thousand installs and never had a problem. He doesn't know what he is talking about. If it is installed poorly there are chances that it could do damage but that goes the same for any aftermarket accessories.

Thanks MP.

I just tlaked to my installer and thats what he thinks as well. He is going to install a relay to resolve the issue. Does this make sense to you?

Thanks,

Yep thats about all you can do. Most remote starts won't cause this.

Don't most dealers just piss ya off.... I mean I can see a warranty issue with this guy I saw who had been running around and pulling and everything with his Edge chip set to 5 and melted the PISTONS. But heck... A sorry were cancelling your warranty cause your running 275s is beyond stupid.
