I left work tonite and as I went to pull away I suddenly lost some of my power steering and it started to vibrate in my hand. When I went to put my foot on the brake to stop the truck. I got a vibrating kind of pulsating in the brake peddle.
I stopped the engine and checked the Power steering fluid. It was a lil low. I limped it home with limited braking power and topped up the power steering fluid.
Still same symptoms.
Is this a power assist issue?
Is that same power assist related to both the PS and PBs?
Any ideas what I broke?

Any fluid loss anywhere? Powersteering pump boost your brakes (no vacuum like gassers) - I've busted a hydro boost line on a Furd once before. Its quite noticable. (but I dont really want to talk about that either)....
Both systems are fed by your hyrdoboost pump. I had a power brake and power steering failure last week, both stemming from the hydroboost pump. It could be a sticky valve, or the hydroboost pump itself.

No broken lines...
I took it to a shop Saturday..
They said it's either a bad PS pump. or sticky Hydroboost high pressure release valve. or air has gotten into the Hydroboost from when my pump was low.
I'll let ya know what we come up with.

Took me about an hour to bleed all the air out of the Furd HB system but that was after a pressure line failure....obviously a different story for you with no leaks.
let us know

I took the truck into the dealership yesterday with it's failing PS and PBs.
I jumped on them regarding the fact that 10 after my full service here, that my truck was returned to me with little or no fluid in the power steering pump.
Short story short.... They replaced the pump for me and I paid for the labor. 2.4 hrs
I'm happy :)
Apparently these power steering pumps are renowned for breaking the main shaft inside the pump. The pump will still spin and now make power and will not make any noticeable noise even with the broken main shaft.
It won't even throw the belt or fly apart.

Update:
Since the dealership replaced my Power Steering Pump the problem continued.
I would loose power steering while the truck was at idle.
Tight, slow turns and while backing a trailer.
Got my truck back from the dealership Friday (Oct 15) evening.:D
FIXED.. 100% payed for by GM and even the rental was covered :D
BUT ... There always has to be a BUT It is not 100% perfect.
Apparently There was a GM bulletin a while back regarding the performance of the 07 08 Silverado and Suburban 2500 #670 Steering Gear Box.
This is the Bulletin in a nut shall
Subject: - 670 Gear Box Power Steering Pump, P/S Performance Concerns.
Models:
2003-2006 Cadi Escalade, Escalade ESV, and EXT
2003-2006 Chevy Avalanche, Suburban, Tahoe
2003-2007 Chevy Silverado Classic
2007-2008 Chevy Silverado, Suburban (2500 series only)
2003-2007 GMC Yukon, Yukon Denali, and XL
2003-2007 GMC Sierra Classic
2007-2008 GMC Sierra, Yukon XL (2500 series only)
Condition:
Some customers may comment on a lack of steering assist when stopped or during parking lot type maneuvers. (or backing a trailer):) A lack of steering assist could occur if the brakes are applied and turning the steering wheel with the vehicle stopped or during parking lot type maneuvers. This condition will go away or greatly improve once vehicle begins to move or is above parking lot speeds. This concern can be aggravated by worn tires, low tire air pressure, low power steering pump pressures, and tires larger than stock size.
Correction:
1:1 FOR 2500 AND 2500 VEHICLES ONLY - If diagnostics did not lead to any repairs, this concern is a normal operating characteristic. No further repairs should be performed. A field Product Report should be submitted - refer to Corp Bulletin Number 02-00-89-002D.
Thank goodness after a new pump and a new steering box mine is back to normal. Normal meaning I don't loose my power steering any more at idle.
The manager spoke of a possible upgrade if the problem persisted or becomes intolerable. Pump upgrade and a steering gear box upgrade to a 680 gear box around $1700.

hrrmmm....me thinks ram assist...probably cheaper than a GM box n pump upgrade. Wonder if the GM box can be ported for hyd. ;)
