I have a non bose single cd radio in my truck. I would like to put in a factory six disc unit. I don't care about amps or speakers I just want to be able to have the six disc. My question is can I buy a unit that will work and does anyone have a part number. I have searched quite a bit and it seems everything I can find involves guys that already have bose systems and want to upgrade to lux, nav and a bunch of other stuff that I am not really interested in. From what I have read if I do not already have bose then I need a amp and I don't really want to go that way just want the six disc and am hoping someone can put me on to a part # that will work in my truck(04 3500 crew cab ls). I also want ot be sure that I can still use my steering wheel controls. :)

i believe you can buy an adapter to use an aux input for the 6cd.

personally i would get an Ipod and use the fm transmitter that's built in for a much wider selection. but that's just my opinion. have you looked at sites like crutchfield and some of the other big online audio dealers?

IIRC, you can do it. The radio will have to be reprogrammed (not just re-VINed) to work in your truck. I remember when I tried this 2 years ago in a half ton I owned, that one of the questions the techs had to answer on the Tech 2 was "bose or non-Bose?" Try looking for a radio from another Silverado/Sierra first, before you use one from a Tahoe or Yukon.
