Every sense GM / AC Delco got away from the blue Donalson Power core filters the new ones don't last at all. I ordered a Donalson filter from the parts store about 5k miles ago. It isn't blue. The filter minder is already 1/2 way to the red. Actually is was a 1/4 the way to the red right after I installed it. Do the new filters not flow as well as the old ones? Any ideas?

Can't tell you about the old vs. old ones, but you may want to try a diff brand next time. I know Baldwin makes a replacement, plus there's always Napa.

I bought a Wix air filter about 3 months ago. The info included with it says it is a redesign of the OEM filter with better air flow. Although I haven't seen any big change in performance, I have put about 3500 miles on it and the el-cheapo plastic air flow monitor is still in the green.

I have a plethora of OEM Donaldson filters but they are not blue, they're white. I haven't noticed any difference in longetivity blue vs. white. If you want to try one, I have plenty avail.
