I had a AFE Magnum Force II Cold air kit. Been hearing all these things about letting dust and other particles in through the high flow filter. Made me nervous, so I took the AFE Box and filter out and installed my stock air box onto the AFE tube. Giving that extra volume of the bigger inlet tube and doing away with the flexable air tube on the stocker. Just wondering if anyone else had done this or not. I had a light film of dust inside my tube, and thats just 6,000 miles of road driving, not dirt road. So when they say dirt isn't getting in, they are full of Censored . Let me know what you guys think.

The AFE kits come with two types of filter media, Pro Guard 5 and Pro Guard 7. The 5 is for gas burners and the 7 is for diesels. Most companies sell the Pro Guard 5 because it is less expensive and looks as if they are giving you a better deal but byer beware! There is also a pre filter available that slides over the AFE filter which works very well. I have tested the Pro Guard 7 through engine oil analysis and it will filter as good as a good paper filter with the pre filter.

Thanks Monty, I switched back to the paper. I just don't want to take any chances. Who knows one of these days I might got back. I just can't see letting dirt into my engine. Thanks again.

Has anyone tried a BHAF(Big Honkin Air Filter) as an induction mod. I had this setup on my 02 Cummins and it was very cost effective. I got one from Napa for around 40 bucks and made my own intake tube. This was a paper filter.

I have the same setup.
