Drove to the lake this weekend with the boat. Got done at the end of the day and get ready to pull the boat out and it looks like the gulf spill coming out of the truck as I'm backed in at the luanch ramp. Thinking wtf, it's getting dark had a few beers and need to get home. Can't see anything major leaking as I get everything packed up. Drove hour and half home no problem. Get up in the morning even before football starts and I have a spray of gear oil all over the rear diff, the exhaust, and the rest of the rear of the truck including the wakeboarding boat. Cover looks dry but dripping from the yoke for sure. Anyone have this happen before, is my rear end about to crap? No sounds, clunking or anything else acting funny. The truck has 180k, no lift, stock tranny, no programmer. Tranny fluid was going to get changed very soon to the new fluid spec and now looks like I have a seal and rear end fluid to change out. Just kind of worried this could be a very bad sign. Mike :(

Your diff leaking is just probably because of the miles. At 180K The seal has most likely worn a groove in the yoke and can no longer seal the oil in. There is a product called "Quick Sleeve" or something like that that you attache to the yoke and make the shaft diameter the way it was. I know this sleeve is used in engines on the crank seal behind the harmonic balancer. If you resleeve the yoke and replace the seal your leak should be stopped right up. Good Luck.
