: I miss my truck
DieselChick 07-27-2005, 05:49 PM For those who didn't know I blew my motor up back in May and had to get it rebuilt. Well it took us a while to decide where and who was going to do it and then to get the finances secured. We decided to go with Diesel Direct in Florida they gave a the best price to rebuild it with the 18:1 pistons and marine injectors, plus they said they could turn it around in 9 days - I wasn't complaining. We got it to them by the first of July and for the past two weeks I have been trying to find out where it is at and I have a hard time getting a hold of them. On top of that when I finally do get a hold of someone they tell me that it is almost done and should being going out at the end of that week or the beginning of next week - that has happened twice now and I still don't have it. Has anyone dealt with these people - is this normal I am just getting a little aggrevated we are over halfway through the summer I haven't got to drive my truck in two months going on three - we have moved and we have to get our stuff out of the place we are at now to the new place (9 miles away) and we hate to move it because we have everything to put the motor back to in the truck just up the road from the place we were living. I am really starting to get ticked. I call them leave messages, I called today and the person I needed to talk to was not in and he was suppose to call me back in a half hour, then I leave message on the answer machine and never get a call back. Somebody :help:
ChevyBDway 07-27-2005, 07:08 PM That sounds like a very nice truck. I know the postion your in and it sucks, but try to always think posative, and hopfully you will get it back soon. For the mean time i will keep my eyes open, and ask around to see if anyone has delt with them befor. i would also continue to call them all the time and try to squeez as info out of them as can. Good luck with everything! -Steve
TFLundyB275 07-28-2005, 12:41 AM never delt with them but good luck, i hope you get it back soon, or at least info on it...
joispoi 07-29-2005, 07:49 AM Probably not the time to be bringing this up, but some trades should NOT be hired strictly based on price.
DieselChick 07-29-2005, 03:30 PM The company was referred to me through another fellow and we didn't just pick them on there price but they also had alot of experience they had rebuilt the 6.2 for the Army and had just recieved the contract to rebuild the 6.5 for them also so they seemed pretty reputable to me.
I finally got a hold of them yesterday and the problem was they got all logged up all of sudden and that put them behind and then they put my motor back together and put in on the test and they had the wrong bolt on the oil pump so they had to dump the oil and take it apart and put the right bolt in. They say I should recieve a phone call here in the next day or so telling me they have shipped it out. Keep your fingers crossed
D.Camilleri 08-06-2005, 12:21 AM Any luck with your engine? Turbine Doc got his pistons from this company, but they were a little slow to deliver due to out sourcing the machining on the low compression pistons. Hope you get your engine soon!
DieselChick 08-26-2005, 06:07 PM Sorry it took so long to give you an update between fighting with the company, starting a new job and moving it has been busy.
I finally recieved my motor on August 9 - much later then expected but at least we got it. But when we started putting it back together we found that they didn't send me my injectors, glowplugs, oil filter conversion for 4x4, oil pump shaft assembly, the bolts on the valve covers were regular bolts no the two way bolts so we could bolt the accessories on it, and the water jacket covers. After them telling me for a week and half that they sent them we finally recieved them the 17th and 20th after they had to next day them to us. I was not impressed with service at all they don't call me back and after you leave a message they won't answer that phone number ( I could call on my phone - which I have left plenty of message with- and get the machine but hang up and call right back with a phone I haven't used and get someone to answer the phone)
Needless to say I have the motor and it runs but I can't drive it till this weekend when we finish pulling the wires under the dash to the gauges. Which speaking of guages can someone tell me what tranny temp, boost and pyro should be?

knkreb 08-27-2005, 10:35 AM Startin' to look like the personal ads. Why not try: Looking for good woman, send pictures of truck?
I used to go to church with this air force family. She did hydrolics on C5's and he had another position on the base (don't know what). After work conversation went like this:
"Honey, I'm either making dinner, or changing the fuel tank on the Bronco, but I'm not doing both tonight."
Chicago TDP 08-27-2005, 12:23 PM OH MAN, that is HOT. That gets my blood pumpin'. My kinda woman ):h

Chicago TDP 08-27-2005, 12:55 PM Sorry, got a little out of control there. I just get a little sidetracked when it comes to girls+trucks:rolleyes: . Makes me think how perfect life would be with both in perfect syncronized harmony.

DieselChick 08-28-2005, 04:28 PM Well boys - my truck was doing better but now we blew our turbo (we didn't pull anything all our guages read fine. Suggests????
quantum mechanic 08-28-2005, 05:08 PM What exactly did you blow? it's possible to rebuild the cartridge ($90)or just swap it out for a rebuilt one($190). J&H diesel has them and a web site.
knkreb 08-29-2005, 04:22 AM Sure it's not a wastegate issue (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39368)?
