ah i am just gonna go back and trade it off on a gasser,,maybe someday gm will fix

I can relate. I've been watching the Duramax since day one. After six years owning a 1994 Silverado K2500 6.5TD/4L80E which was (this one anyway) a great truck, and having GM vehicles exclusively for years, in 2000 I bought a new Dodge Ram Cummins 3500 dualie. I've since owned 2 Cummins Rams, both trouble free for a combined 160,000 miles. And they were not stock..for long. Flame suit on...ziiiiiiip!

I've been reading the DMax related forums ever since they came out and have heard it all. Sure there are going to be problems when new designs and technology come out.

Well after watching and waiting, and the truck prices going up, up and UP, I decided to buy a 2500 Avalanche with the trusty 8.1. People that know me can't belive I got rid of my Cummins Ram and got a gasser! Well, if GM made a Duramaxalanche, I would have bought one. Come on GM, get on with it!

So for now I'll continue to wait, and watch the forums here. If GM offers the DMax in an Avalanche, and it isn't $62,000 by then, I'll make the move.
Till then, good luck to GM and you guys N gals here with the awesome Duramax! It's a great engine and tranny but I'm not willing to be a guinnea pig.

I have test driven half a dozen, maybe more, Chevy and GMC DMax trucks since they came out. I've came very close a couple of times bringing one home in 2003 and 2004.
Considered buying a low mile used one even. What changed my mind was seeing a 2500 Avalanche in person. When these came out in 2002 I wasn't interested at all. But after looking at one and driving one, I decided to do it and take up the Employee Pricing offer that GM has going.

One of these days it'll all work out I guess.

ah i had a 01 8.4 gasser..traded it for the max..gawd the max is nice but i am scared to drive it now with the overheat stuff.so i will get another 8.1`

gawd i hjave friven tghe ford and the dodge.nothin beats the silveradao except for the damn engine..gawde the max has power but i9 dont wnna hert it..i figured i cud have tghis one lst truck and retire and never have to buy another one..well geuss not

tell you all something..my buddy is a gm salesman..he refused to sell me a max. so i bot one somewhere else..i shudda listened
