dropped oil pan to replace gasket and found this in the oil pan and im freaking the F out!!!!! helppppp

Looks like the little button in the cylinder head that injector hold down seats against.

injectors were replaced in truck. could this be something that was dropped down in the motor. and thought to be harmless while being repaired? truck runs great, injectors are all in sequence no strange or unsual engine noise. looking for opinions or facts to put my mind to ease

IF that is what it is, I wouldn't worry about it. If you don't have any issues, don't worry about it.

And yes, that could very easily drop into the pan during an injector replacement.

If the truck runs well, and nothing has changed, then fawk it. I hate to say that, but you would probably have to tear the motor down to find where it came from. i have found bolts, nuts, wrenches, and just about everything else in oil pans while working at a dealership and in different mechanics shops. 99% of the time you don't find where it came from

OK, if memory serves (and looking at pics from my engine teardown), the oil drains are large enough that one of those buttons could make it all the way down to the pan. Im still amazed that it actually did, though.

You'd have to take the upper valve covers off to get a peek to see if the mechanic replaced it under one of the hold downs.

As long as it was replaced, not a big deal, but if there is one missing up top.. could have a cup leak soon.... Injector is not being held down properly

If that was mine I would have to find out if that was replaced or not. No waiting for trouble for me.

Is it magnetic? could it just be a magnet in pan to collect debris
