Hello together,
I am from Germany and I am looking here in Germany for an used pickup like an Chevy 2500 HD Duramax or Ford F-250 7,3 Powerstroke of 2001/2002.
At the time, in Germany are 15x Duramax and 5x F-250 to sold...thats all...:)
And so, I want to hear from all daily driver of this pickups, what's to say about these trucks. I mean for example : mpg, towing, transmission, etc.
Thank you, and sorry for my bad english.:D
Regards Oliver

Welcome to the Place!
All that information is right here at your fingertips...just use the SEARCH feature at the top of the page to find what you're looking for.
(Personally....I'd go for the Duramax....)

Your english is a lot better than my german. I'm surprised you can get either truck over there. If you'll be towing look into the capacities of the f250 vs dmax 2500. I believe the dmax is rated quite a bit higher. Also the ford 7.3 is a ton louder than any dmax, has lower hp and torque (stock) and a weaker auto transmission. All autobahns lead to dmax.
Cheers from Canada

@TheBac
Thank you. I will try to find some information in other threads..
@Paul Clancy
Yes, here in germany are some US/ Canada-imported-pickups to sold. But the most problem , 90% of all odometers are rolling back. I have proofed it about carfax.com.
The highest weight, that I want to tow is 2-horsetrailer with max. 4000 lbs= 2000 kg.
I think, a 2001 Duramax has a technical higher level like an F-250, or ?
The odometer is electrical, the allison tranny has 5 gears instead 4 (F-250)
And I think the Isuzu-common-rail has a better mpg ?
Thank you for more information.
Oliver

......I have had my Duramax K2500HD x-cab for just over 2 years now and my B-In-Law has owned his 2001 F-350 SRW with the 7.3 Powerstroke and the 4R100 auto tranny for the same amount of time and yesterday he called to tell me they found a ton of metal filings in the pan and the filter so now he has a major repair bill on his hands. His truck has only 70,000 klms on it. For the money the Duramax/Allison is the only way to go. Better economy, more power, more torque and it is very quiet as compared to a powerjoke. The tow/haul feature of the Allison speaks for itself. Good luck in your search. Hope you're havin' a great summer in Deutchland...................SWH...:cool2:

gutin tog mien heir, go with the duramax. the 7.3 powerchoke is a 2 valve per cylinder, the duramax has 4, is much quieter.

To be honest, they are both fine Diesel engines.
The tranny behind them is what makes the difference here.
The Allison 1000 is a better unit then the 4R100. I have a nephew who has had major issues with his 2001 Ford, the 7.3 is strong but the tranny has been out of the truck twice for repairs.
The Duramax should get you better fuel economy than the Power Stroke also.

I agree the Durumax is about or is the quietest diesel around.I almost got a ford to but just couldnt pass up the deal I got.The only thing I do miss that a ford has is the bigger ,roomier interior, plus a much higher truck from stock.We have a 05 ( ithink) F-250 6.0 diesel at work and its a fast powerful truck, but it has also been in several times for recalls and such.

Definatly say the dmax the powerchoke will not out pull or out power the dmax in any way. Plus the dmax I think has a much bigger cab better looks (03) and better quality only problem I've ran into is if your gonna upgrade anything under the hood your gonna want to upgrade the tranny.

There is nothing wrong with the 7.3, it is the vehicle built around it that is bad. Go with the Dmax.
