I know, I know--I shouldn't be complaining. I have completely "walked through" my stock 245 Bridgestones in only about 23,000 miles. I haven't been doing burnouts, but it's amazing to me what torque does to accelerate tire wear.

What should I get that comes in 265 "E" and is good on slick highways and has quiet ride?

Revos?

And my stockers with close to 30,000 miles on them look practically brand new... I wonder if they had a bad compound lot causing premature wear?

Yeah, same here I have 30000+ miles on mine and they aren't even scuffed (NASCAR term....):h ). I do rotate mine every oil change (5K mi.). If you're wearin' out tires that quick.....unless of course you accidently on purpose wore them out..... ;) I'd be lookin' at Michelins.

Just pulled my stock Bridgestone 773 II tires at 3500 miles to put a set of 265/7516E Firestone Transforce tires on and the only wear is a little feathering on the fronts prob. due to not getting it alligned when I put 6 turns on the bars. rears look like they have never been turned, was very happy with them just wanted to go bigger.

Oh, and the Transforce Tires have a 550 treadwear rating!!!!

32,000 on mine and they(The stock tires) are coming to the end of there life. One thing i noticed is the drivers side rear tire wears out the fastest of all 4. I'm not doing any burnouts, and i think it has something to do with grade braking feature in our trannys.

I have 30,000 miles on my "stockers" and I just called and ordered a set of Goodyear workhorse extra grips. They wear great and have a really nice tread pattern, I got 65,000 miles out of my last set of workhorses.

I'm glad somebody got good treadwear out of a set of goodyears, they have always worn too fast for me and have never had very good wet traction no matter what goodyear it was. Maybe they are starting to come around.

A friend of mine got a new 6.0 HD chevy and went to Alaska w/ his small 5th wheel (24' IIRC).

When he got back it needed new tires, less 12,000 on odometer, all 4 where shot.

Workhorses are the only Goodyear tire that seems to hold up for me that is, I have to pay about $155.00 a piece for these tires. Thats to much for any tire!!! But you have to have them.

On the Goodyear Workhorses: These are absolutely the BEST traction tire I've ever personally used in deep snow and slick roads. My dad and I put a set on our old Ford hunting truck in 235/85 size and were literally going the same places as other 4X4s chained on the rear end. We did have some significant weight in the bed, which helps tremendously in this particular truck it seems.

I'm not sure how the tires did wear-wise, because this truck rarely sees much highway driving--it's all off road.

I've had good luck with BFG Commercial Transport? and Big O's e-rated tires. Both went >60k mi on my E-350.

Mileage is all relative to rotating properly and driving style. My stock bridgestones are shot (20K miles)and I am looking to upgrade soon.
I have heard that if you rotate the tires after 1000 miles it reduces the tendancy for them to wear in the same spots thus giving a longer tire life in the end. Can anyone verify that?

I know mine rotate every time I drive it ):h

I rotate min every fall and spring when I change from snow tires to summer tires.
U can see the difference from front to rear and its from pulling heavy trailers w/ a heavy foot.

I'm starting to look for some new ones. At 26K miles with stock tires I'm starting to lose chunks for tread in the center. I have them pumped to 60lbs but the wheel hop I get when I stand on it sometimes I think is the culprit.

44 k on stock tires now will get 50-55k depends when winter decides to come tires were rotated at 20k and 40k i had green keys and no allignment done at 15k

Shortest tire life on a D/A - Nitto's - less than 10,000.
Longest tire life on a D/a - Toyo - about 16,000 to 18,000 max
Shortest treat life ever on a vehicle - Bridgestone rears on a 89 Porsche Slantnose Turbo - 1500 miles, at $389 a tire.

I think being anal about pressures has a huge impact. I've worn out plenty of tires due to being too hard in the rear and somehow not noticing that I'm burning the centers off. And I do need to rotate more.

So my new plan is to rotate every 6k and check the tires once a week.

I'm also going to stick with my Revos since it seems I'm finally where I need to be (empty 90+% of the time) with 55 in the front and 45 in the rear.

Holy cow gardnerteam! Those Porsche tires must have been spinning for about 1300 of those 1500 miles...lol!

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em, right?!

My dad and I just can't seem to get more than about 25,000 miles out of a set of heavy-duty E rated truck tires no matter what we do. Granted, we don't rotate every 3,000 miles, and we don't check pressures daily. We've just come to the conclusion that the gravel roads we travel combined with hard winters and diesel torque all add up against tires.

I'm think 265's for my next set. Maybe some nice shiny new wheels if I can afford them...lol.

I have 3 245's stock Bridgestones I'm trying to sell for cheap.
I put only about 4000 miles on them.

As I've reported here before, I'm coming up on 60k miles om my Toyo O/C A/Ts. These are just load range D tires in this particular size. I don't know if they offer an E in the size you're looking for. I don't tow too often and then I've never exceeded 10k#. I keep a close eye on pressure (about 60psi) and always rotate my tires every 5k miles along with/when I change oil and grease the front end. They've been very good in snow and on ice. Later this fall I will be putting the new ones on, for tread depth. These are getting down there too close for winter use. I don't know exactly what the present tread depth is, but the wear bars aren't anywhere close. In all, I've been really happy with these tires.

i had bfg mud terrains on my 02. 285/75/16's. Got 35000 outa them and was more than pleased. Everyone said they suck in the rain, but they were great for me. And they were awesome in the snow too. Guess i was lucky cuz they're pretty soft to begin with.It kinda seemed like they wore a 1/4 of they way real quick, but then slowed down as time went on. I dunno...as soon as these stocker hunks of sh*t wear out, i'm goin back to the bfg's.

Sounds good on the BFG's. I'm seriously considerng the 255/85/16 M/T's on stock wheels.
