I was talking to a buddy of mine who is a Chry. tech. I asked him if they had any problems with the common rail Dodge injectors. He works in a rural town at a dealership but is an excellent tech and is well trained by the factory. He said they have had a lot of problems with the injectors, about 90% of thier CTD sales are to farmers. He said the dyed diesel they run cause scaling inside the common rail tubes which leads to injector failures. Claims Dodge will not warranty fuel systems that have run dyed fuel. Most farmers get their fuel from their own tanks on the farm and are not always maintained that well and subject to moisture. He said Dodge thinks it is moisture that is causing the problem which I am inclined to maybe believe. There have been a few failures on clear as well. Just wondering if there is any similarities to the Dmax common rail tubes or if it sounds off base?

The red dye will not hurt the motor. Water will.

What I'm trying to elude to here is any shortcoming of the fuel lines used in the injection system. The opinion was that its not the small amount of moisture or marking in the fuel that causes the problem but rather the reaction between them and the material that the fuel lines are made from or plated with. Don't see too much humor when a company doesn't want to cover a warranty issue with a new truck bought for the purpose of working or having to have to pay for injectors at about a K a pop.
